Basel GMT IIC black and blue "Powerade"

In keeping with the idea of drinks for nicknames (Pepsi, Coke, Rootbeer) how about "Powerade" for the new Basel 2013 GMT IIC black and blue ceramic bezel release?

I submitted this idea at another forum... curious to see what people think?

It doesn't "need" a nickname. Many Rolexes don't have nic names. Besides nic names happen by accident or because of certain overt memorable situations.
Don't really know if this one warrants it or maybe so..... The previous green hand GMT doesn't have a nic name.
When I was in the Army guys would try and nic name themselves something cool, NO! doesn't work like that.....when you finally embarrassingly mess something up, or have a weird name or come from a peculiar place that's when you get a nic name, probably not to your liking....so as we always say "don't f---k up".

Ive been here only 6 years or so, but I do recall when the watches were still on sale people took photos of their watch near a coke can or pepsi can. At first I just figured it out, but then noticed the nicknames afterwards.

When the names came along who knows, as coke and pepsi bezels have been around since before the forum and even before I was born!

Since we have a Hulk (116610LV), we need a Batman (116710BLN) - and the next ceramic red/blue GMT could be... Superman!

Haha....we keep insisting on naming the new GMT...and I know unless someone comes to a consensus, this topic will never end.

I agree with this. You can't force a nickname it has to happen organically.

I mentioned this in another post...but does it look like the Bruiser has stark White numerals on the insert Vs. platinum sprayed #'s on the GMTIIC??? Maybe it's the flash?

And in most of the pictures I've seen so far, the black on the insert looks blacker. It could be the show lighting or the contrast with the blue (or the maybe white numerals) but it sure looks like a deep dark black whereas the regular GMTc can often cast a greyish or silvery sheen (which I like btw).

I'd like to hear about this from anyone that saw it in the flesh.

Powerade is actually a good name. I know peppermint orbit has a black and blue theme too it.. Honesty I'm down for whatever the masses wanna call it. Even if that means calling it a bi-color GMT

Someone suggested we call it 'Threemonkeys.' Can't recall where I heard that, though.

My favorite name is probably 'coffee cup with black letters and blue bowl' or 'ccwblabb' for those of you in a hurry.

GMT-BB is a good abbreviation until such time as a real nickname emerges.

Why? I think it's fun :)

So,
C - Céramiques (Ceramic)
L - Lunette (Bezel)
V - Verte (Green)
N - Noir (Black)

Therefore,
116710BLNR, I'm guessing, means "bleu-noir".

If you want to keep the 'drink' theme (ala 'Coke', Pepsi') then perhaps we can look into drinks that feature the blue colour: http://www.spiritdrinks.com/DrinksBy...nks.asp?Page=1

GMTII 'blue bird' kind of sounds interesting. GMT historically a pilots watch, and all. Also a cocktail. However, I agree nicknames aren't forced, they are born on their own.

Thanks. Maybe Rolex changed the recipe for the ceramic & numbers for some reason.

IMHO nick names for watches are silly and some are worse than others. They all have reference numbers.

Although nicknames for watches strike me as silly has no one noticed that the exact colors are used by a major high end auto maker? Any guesses?
