RO 15400 date change problem

My RO appears to have a slight problem recently. The date change is no longer smooth. When changing the date with the crown, I must pause a short 1/2 sec before I can change to the next day. It's like the mechanism got some resistance and a bit "stucked". But it is still smooth when winding or adjusting the hour/mins. The date also change at midnight without problems.

Any idea what's wrong?

Have you tried flipping the date around all 31 days, to hopefully get the gears realigned? I have no familiarity with this problem, but that's probably what I would try. Just yesterday I was moving all my watches forward a day because of 30-day
April and my DateJust's quickset date suddenly wasn't engaging at all, I just kept working it and it seemed to suddenly realign and work as it should.

Yeah, try rotating it a couple of months. If that doesn't help get it checked out.

Are you changing the date only when the hour hand is between 4 and 8?

Like others have said, try to adjust the dates a few more rounds to see if the gears realigned. But NEVER force if the wheel got stuck. It is better to send to APSC for a warranty check in that case.

One point to note, for mechanical watches, it is always the safest to adjust the time to 6 o'clock before adjusting the date. This will ensure the date wheel is not engaged internally when the adjustment is performed.

Set to 6 o'clock, and then wind the date a few rounds. Works! Smooth as butter now. Thanks!
