misterious gold lady Rolex

hello to everybody, my granmother gave me an antique rolex watch. A gold one, I'm looking for understanding the value and the model name. But I don't find anything about it.
In the back there is a number: 492400 and inside the number 4521
Anybody can tell me something about this watch?
Thanks a lot!
Roberto

I think that you need closer photos of the dials and if possible also a photo of the movement.

It's just an old ladies Rolex precision dress watch from 1950 to 1970. There were a ton of these bracelets made by other jewelers and then fitted with a Rolex movement. The entire value is based on the gold content. If it is 9k, 14k, or 18k or gold filled. Get the going rate based on weight and add about $250 if it is in good working order. Sorry, but that's the best you will get for it and someone will probably melt the gold and sell the movement.

thanks you to everybody. I just post more pictures!

Thanks to everybody, I just send a couple of pictures. Thanks a lot to DrLinda for the exaustive reply... I just send you a couple of more pictures because I would like to be sure that the watch has no more value than the gold, before melting it...

Like I said (because I have owned and still do own a number of these) you can get the gold value plus a few hundred more. You can try to sell it in full on ebay but you will have to pay a fee and that will eat up the movement value. Or, you can scrap the gold and sell the movement. Or, you can just keep it and watch the gold market go up an down and decide what to do with this. These watches are really "jewelry" and not super collectible. You can also try to sell it on here and then you won't have to pay any fees but you may have to be a pledge member to sell it. Not sure but I think so.

You have several options. Good luck. What is the weight of the bracelet and case without the movement? The movement looks pretty good. Have you wound it and let it run down and wound it a few times more?

Usually, with Rolex watches, they get their value based on demand of collectors who are willing to pay a certain price to own a certain model.

With the ladies dress models there is not a large demand like there is with the same era men's models so, without demand, there is little value.

An heirloom from a grandmother, aunt, or mother is usually more valuable to family members than it is to anybody else. Auctions are the usual way to get more from an item than otherwise.. This one appears to be in good condition and would be worth several hundred dollars. As Linda mentioned, melt value is a few hundred less than market value.

The numbers tell you the tale.. Ladies Dress model 4521. Serial number 492400 which dates it to late '50s or so..

thanks to everybody... at the end I melted the gold and sold at ebay the movement from 1 euro... I was thinking at the end will be around 100 or more euro but the auction ended at 11 euro!! :(
So at the end I had only the money for the gold and that's it but... better than nothing :)
Thanks!!!
Roberto
