first rolex
Hello,
This is my first post and first rolex I'm waiting delivery on. Just purchased a Pre-owned Men's Arrowhead SS off eBay. Haven't received it yet but just noticed the crown does not have the Rolex logo on it. Ask the seller about it and he responded some of the arrowhead models do not have the logo on the crown and he authenticated it thru the previous owner. 140972271679 is the eBay item number SN is 83005. Other than the crown issue the watch appears legit. Thoughts? Thx. |

It's a rolex oysterdate precision and i'm pretty sure all of them had a crown on the crown with a line under it. and I would be worried there may not be original rolex movement parts in there if the crowns not original.

Yeah, I think the crown is a replacement. Bracelet is also a service replacement. If everything else is original, you can replace the crown for not much money

Welcome. Here's hoping your first purchase is legit and all goes well for you. There are a couple of things that worry me about this piece. Obviously, as others have pointed out, there's an aftermarket crown in the watch. The other thing on it that seems amiss is the bold font on the calendar wheel. The magnification on the cyclops seems close, and it could just be my eye on those poor pictures, but if you google other oyster date precisions, the font is much sharper and crisp. I immediately am suspect when a seller does not properly list the model name of the watch. I am also suspect when the seller isn't providing up close pictures from several angles for close inspection, including a shot between the lugs showing the model & serial #, and the case back opened to show the Rolex movement. The seller doesn't offer a return policy or inspection period. The pictures are low quality. These are all red flags. I hate to say it, but with a product which is the counterfeit object in the world, you've done very little to mitigate your risk here. This could turn out fine for you, but you need to immediately take this watch to an AD or a watchmaker for verification of its authenticity; as they will take the case back off and verify the movement. As others have said, if its just an aftermarket crown, that can be replaced inexpensively. If it was serviced in 2007 as the seller says, it's probably time for a service anyway and any watchmaker with a parts account or Rolex Service Center will demand it be returned to factory condition with genuine Rolex parts as a condition of service. Please let us know how this turns out for you. I'm hoping your first Rolex purchase is all you hope it to be. |

It seems this watch is a bit of a Frankenstein Rolex. It appears that the Bezel is the original but the dial and crown are not. I decided to return it and Ebay stated they will get my money back. This forum is great, thx for all the help. Caveat Emptor.
