Both are highly desirable, but the Coax is a superior watch with a much higher price tag.
One thing that I dislike about black dials with silver markers that aren't lumed is that they are virtually unreadable in even slightly dark conditions. The markers and hands disappear.

Isn't that a bit like saying if a Rolex Submariner doesn't have a Cal 1030 movement, it isn't a Submariner? But I could agree that a classic Speedmaster should have a manual-wind movement...

No you can't say that as the specific moves were qualified for space missions. We all know about the rigorous qualification tests. So it's quite a bit different and very specific. That said I used to be very strict about If it ain't a manual with heselite it isn't a moonie and didn't want to look at it. These new designs with classic nods have changed my view. They are beautiful.

Since I already have an older Broad Arrow I'm going to have to say FOIS for me.

Tough choice since its two of the best in the line-up IMO. I have only seen the FOIS in real life and it looks great, it is also slightly smaller than the new one. On the other hand the new 57 has an interesting movement and a more retro look with the two registers.
I would go with the FOIS I think, although there is no bad choice. You could also consider the regular moon watch. |

Speedmaster '57 for me. I've owned the FOIS and have since sold it, and its a great watch but the movement chops of the '57 and the addition of a date are big plus points over the FOIS in my opinion. Its just a better watch, and the price increase reflects that. Although, I really wish the '57 had the same black tachymeter as the FOIS.

I voted FOIS.
Tough call as I like the overall styling of the 57 better, especially the two registers. But if I am buying my first speedmaster, I want something as closely linked to the watch worn on the moon as possible! That and I am sure the 57 is overly thick like the rest of the recent releases |

1957 CoAx for me.
Love the balance and presentation of the re-issue. |
