Icon20 1 Year With the Black Bay: Photo Review

Roughly this time one year ago I flew over to Amsterdam airport to pick up my Tudor Black Bay as a reward to myself for finishing university. Since then I have worn it in rotation with many other watches but above all others I have found it to be one of the most versatile watches one can own.

So on my 1 year (nearly) anniversary with the BB I thought i'd give you photo review of my year with the BB, be it relaxing, on holiday or at work

To anyone sitting on the fence about this guy, I wholeheartedly suggest you take the plunge, you will not regret it.

Without further ado here is my 1 year with the Black Bay in pictures.

1. Fresh from the airport.

2. Waiting patiently for my final degree results...(thankfully received a First )

3. Quick nap in Central Park while on holiday

4. First day of work

5. Quick after-work bowl with the colleagues

6. One of many wrist-shots taken at work (thankfully no-one's caught me taking these yet )

7. Amusing myself while stuck in traffic trying to blind my girlfriend with the sun's reflection

8. One of hundreds of train journeys to work

9. A shining example of my terrible photography skills

All in all I can safely say that the Black Bay has been everything I had hoped it would be, a great everyday watch for all occasions.

Cannot recommend it highly enough

Great pics, ths model seems like it has become very popular recently. I couldn't help noticing in your photo's though, you never took the protective sticker off of the case?

Guilty as charged. I am yet to take off the stickers from the side of the case or the clasp. Not quite sure why to be honest, maybe one of these days!

Very nice watch.

I was just wondering about the way you wear your watch. It seems like you wear it past the bone between your arm and hand (I don't even know the right name or term for it so excuse me). Doesn't look comfortable to me. But to each his own of course. Was wondering if more people did this or not.

I love it on a bracelet or nato but that faux vintage leather strap is awful. Glad you got it done correctly! Divers on anything but steel or rubber make me scratch my head. NATOs are fine too but I'm not a big fan of them anymore. Used to be

See, I am the opposite (and fully encourage differing opinions!).

On a bright bracelet, vs. dark (leather strap or NATO or similar), it's a completely different look. To my eyes (and we all have different esthetics), the red on bright bracelet doesn't work as well as red on dark.

I say "as well", because at the end of the day, it's a great watch either way. I have the Black Bay on leather. It's a "dress only" watch for me.

I think the real news here is that you: A. Were brave enough to sleep in Central Park, and B. Woke up with the watch still on your wrist. Congrats!
