The Audemars Piquet 15400....

The Audemars Piquet 15400.

Tried one on at the weekend and fell absolutely truly madly deeply head over heels for it.....
Even more so than the long-lusted after Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which I also tried on in Selfridges Wonder-Room in London.

Beautiful as it is though, I really don't think it'll take a daily beating at the skip (dumpster?) yard that I manage quite as well as my 216570, so unfortunately it's gonna have to wait 'til my bonus at the tail end of the year.

But trust me: The AP 15400 is Spuds new 'one day watch'.

.....as in 'one day I WILL have one'.

Couldn't agree more. Still freshly wrapped in plastics.

There is one slight problem though. Once you go AP ...

That's the kiddy!!,

All my Rolex watches are black faced and the silver made such an amazing change....
The most perfectly balanced and beautiful timepiece that I've ever had on my wrist.

Congratulations to you both on your awesome watches gents......

Admittedly the lighting is dire but they've made a half-hearted attempt at upgrading some of the bulbs in there.....
'twas a beautiful sunny day though and the guy at the AP counter let me get just close enough to the sun shining in from outside to appreciate the elegance and details of the watch and it was just sooooooooo comfortable and simply...... 'right' and I had the biggest grin on my face for hours afterwards!!.

Would make a great weekend watch to go with the 216570 as a daily.

Lot of crap on my mind. I'll get to it eventually. I am a black dial kind of dude, but it is a coin toss. Stunning stunning watch.

Great choice, Spuds!
I just bought mine a month ago and have been wearing it every day since. It is an amazing daily wearer and my favorite watch for sure. You cannot go wrong with a 15400!

Keep us posted

Funny, we have a lot in common. I too have the 216570 (white) that I use when I am onsite at our MFG plants. I also moved on to the 15400 (white/silver) for when I am back in NYC and on weekends. Next after that, if you follow my path, will be the AP Diver. There you have it, your destiny has been predetermined.

Should go for it. The RO is a beauty. If handle with care, it can be worn daily though it's a scratch magnet. But you can always get it back brand new after going thru service.

This is mine.

You guys are about to push me over the edge and I don't want to betray my classic 39mm Royal Oaks. I've always been a purist and this thread might change that.

Great pic's and great input guys.... Thank you!

It's gonna be a long wait though chaps my bonus isn't due until Christmas and I really can't justify splurging 'family savings' on such a luxury (& selfish) purchase.

If my bonus comes in at what's already been hinted at it's gonna be one helluva Christmas though!!

GORGEOUS timepiece. Definitely on my wish list.....but the Patek Philippe Nautilus in SS with the white dial is also calling my name.... I think I'll have the AP first though. Really like that watch a lot!!!

Neil and Serg, you are a pair of instigators!!!

The only problem is that I've always been a purist when it comes to my beloved Royal Oaks. Not sure about taking the plunge but we'll see.
