Help with my 15400
Greetings, as the title suggests, I am in need of some help with my new 15400. Just picked it up less than a month ago from a trusted seller here at TRF.
i finished setting the date and time, and as I am trying to push the crown back in, I feel some resistance and as I turn the crown to tighten, I can hear this " noise" like gears engaging, the very sound you will hear when winding the watch manually. I managed to get it tightened despite this sound, but I'm wondering if this sound is normal ?.... I'm scared that I'm forcing the crown and wearing the gears?? Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.... |

Don't worry, take it to the APCS if you feel uncomfortable

It is perfectly normal - the winding gear stays engaged when you wind the crown in unlike on something like a Rolex - so you will get a very fine clicking sound and feel.
It is more noticeable once the watch is fully wound as you can hear/feel the overwind clutch - the clicking is louder and and feels a bit more gritty. ![]() When I first got my Diver I was worried something was wrong with it as I was used to Rolex before but it is just a different mechanism and takes some getting used to. ![]() You will also notice the minute hand jumps a fraction anti clockwise when you push the crown back in - there is a nack of doing a little wiggle first with the crown to stop this from happening. ![]() |

Normal. I just wind mine about 30 turns instead of 40 and don't hear it anymore.

Thank you all! :)
I really appreciate the responses... I guess I was comparing it to my rolex and wasn't sure if it was normal.... |
