Just picked up my submariner date (16610) today from the service center in kent, its had its first service since I bought it new 10 years ago. I know its expensive but they have done a fantastic job. The watch looks like it was the day I bought it , worth the 6 weeks wait.

Will try and up load some photo's

Expect it feels great to get the watch back after 10 yrs of use to have it in the condition it would have been when you first bought it or how it would be today new from a shop. Amazing really..

Where did you get it from, AD? Local to us - im in Hastings area?

The cost was £430, I was lucky that one of the buildings I work in is near to the RSC in West Malling, so I could take it in directly and pick it up. I had been quoted between £200 - £300 locally from independant watch repairers. But decided to use Rolex and glad I did even though it was a 6 week wait. They did suggest changing the bezel insert but I said leave the original one in. One thing I thought was odd, they gave me a receipt when I paid for the service but said the warranty card is sent in the post, have not received yet.

Will upload some photo's this weekend.

Glad they done a good job but when you divide 10 years of wearing and enjoying you watch into what the service cost its not that expensive.

Hey Dave, what was included in the service? Thinking of get my Sub done..was going to go to an Independent watch repairers but think im going to take the same route you took.

Just got my 16610 back from the spa (independent watch Repairer)

It just needed a tune-up nothing major.

My reason to go this route was purely timeframe. The local AD said between 10-12 weeks and €650.

My local watch repairer who has a rolex parts agreement took 10 days and €380.

Decided not to get it polished as it has been care for.

It is summertime, so put on the summer band (Nato) and all is good

When I took the watch in they gave a me a service manual called a 10 step guide, seems pretty comprehensive. I've never had one issue with my watch since the day I bought it and they only thing they noted was to change the bezel insert which I decided against. As Peter stated its works out £40 a year which is good value for a high quality watch.

Just got home from work and the service warranty card has arrived in the post,
can't fault Rolex, brilliant watch and great service.

Worn it every day since I' bought new, really missed it for the six weeks , strange how you get attached to these things.

Looks fantastic, I had my 16610 serviced seven years after buying it new at the local AD and like you I was SO happy when it came back looking like the first time I opened the box brand new, five years later it's still running perfectly. Enjoy it, it's such a classic, mine will eventually be given to my eldest son ( probably when I'm dead and it gets forcibly removed lol ) Cheers

10 years is about right I reckon unless it has a particularly hard life despite Rolex's recommendation.

£430 is a big sum to fork out in one lump but, as Peter said over 10 years ain't bad at all. Might start putting away 50 quid a year to lessen the blow when the time comes.
