New Guy - Hi all
I've been the proud owner of a new submariner no date G-series for almost 2 years now, but I'm new to the forums, so howdy!
Picked it up from an AD in Maryland after a deployment Question though: without taking off the bracelet, is there any way to determine the difference between a 14060 and a 14060M? I know the major difference is in the movement --Is it possible to get a 14060 new after 1999? |

Hello and welcome from a fellow new guy. Beware this site (just like Rolexs, Tudor and Omegas) is quite addictive...even if your not posting...simply lurking, learning and watching what is selling. haha

Welcome, nice sub.
I believe the m stands for modified and the movement was modified to ensure it was within scoc standards and that's when they made the dial 4 liners. I think yours is a 14060m. I might be, and probably am, wrong about all or some of the above, but we'll find out soon when the experts chime in.

Great Sub, welcome to TRF. I do believe that yours is the M version. Peter (padi56) should be chiming in here rather soon and will be able to tell you for sure as well as to when and why the M version was introduced... Peter are you out there? Mine is a G serial also.

Welcome and great watch.
To answer your question, if my reseach is correct, it is not easy to tell the difference between a 14060 and 14060M without removing the bracelet. You obviously have the 14060M because the 4-liners started in the Z series (2006) and all came with the 3130 movement, which is what distinguishes an 14060M from a 14060, which has the 3000 movement. I believe the 14060M was introduced in the P series (2000) and that is also around the time Rolex introduced SEL bracelets and Super Luminova dials. There is probably a short period of time where the 3000 movements were put into watches with SELs and Super Luminova dials, however. There are some very knowledgeable people on this forum and I'm sure they will have exact answers. |

Welcome Bernard, good choice.
I believe Chainring's information to be substantially correct. It corresponds with my own previous research.
