replace hollow bracelet w/ solid? etc.
hello,
new to the forum but couldn't find an easy answer in the archives. i just inherited an older (1960s?) rolex oyster perpetual date (34mm case, milled bezel) and had several questions. hoping someone on the forum can help. thanks! 1. the watch has a milled (engined turned) bezel. is it possible to change to a smooth bezel? 2. the 19mm oyster bracelet is not only stretched but some of the links are bent. hoping to replace with a new(er) bracelet and was wondering if it was possible to replace with a new style solid bracelet (a retail store clerk told me that's not possible but i am hoping he's wrong). |

1. sure.. all you need to do is find one.. the cases aren't any different, just the bezels..
2. A watch from the 60's will not have the machined ledge on the case between the lugs to index a modern SEL style bracelet and those are the only ones that would have solid centers as well. Nothing wrong with a later, proper, replacement bracelet though.. that one lasted 50 years, so a new one should do the same at least.. ![]()
