Infected... Again?!?
Here I was patiently waiting for my next watch: either a Rolex 116680, Patek 5726/1A, or a RG AP Jumbo. Yes I know there's a bit of a $ gap in those choices. Anyways, then you guys start posting pics of your 372/422s and PAM fever strikes again!!! Damn you all, I thought I was cured after selling everything off and keeping just a 233 for flare ups! Now I can't get the 372/422 out of my head.
Reminds me of a joke: "My girl is going to die of syphilis," mumbles an angy guy to his buddies. "No," say the friends, "people don't die of syphilis anymore." The angry guy replies, "They do when they give it to me!" |

Are you fond of plexi? It was the deal killer for me on the 372, although most will disagree and love it.

since it won't be a daily for you, mike, and since you take GREAT care of your watches (look at your 15300), i would think the "downsides" of plexi should be of no concern to you, and only the upside (warm glow, historic connection) should be considered.
so, for me, 372 is the easy choice here. even more so since the base dial is "plus" for you, and the second hand is a "minus". it's also more different from the 233. prices have stabilized. now is a totally safe time to jump in. and just think of all the fun of putting together a KILLER 26mm strap collection (if you're like me, you made some so-so choices in the beginning of the strap collecting, and now your tastes are more refined). |

Both those choices are great... And I love Plexi... 372 and 422 are both awesome!!! But since you have a 233 the 372 Base would be a perfect addition...

I know that alot of Panerai fans swear the 372 is the best thing since sliced bread. No doubt it's a great piece. But, I think the 422 with the sapphire (why worry?), seconds hand, seconds reset and very useful power reserve is a better choice. It has plenty of PAM DNA for me with a touch of modern features. Very happy with mine after probably 12 Rolex over the years.

Great choice in either!!
I know that panerai infection all too well. I thought I was pretty content until a couple of weeks ago out of nowhere I became obsessed with the brand all over again. It's all I've been looking at lately. Early congrats??... |

You know it's your fault right, Travis? You had to get that 422 and start the juices going again.

Since you already have so many, Mike! so i think 372 makes it easy and fill up your collection perfectly. Cause 372 is a true modern vintage Panerai so far.

At first I was opposed to the seconds hand on the 422, but then realized I LOVE it because it brings a little bit of life to the dial. You see the watch working for you.
The PR indicator on the caseback is perfect to see what you're working with. No guessing how much reserve is left when you strap it on. I know this doesn't mean much to many Risti's but for me it just all works. Sapphire = no worries (i know the plexi is easily buffed). I never mentioned it before, but I actually bought the 372 first and after less than a day of ownership sold it back to the seller and committed to the 422. I love looking at pics of the 372 and how clean the dial layout is. I think it is one of the best PAMs out there, but I'll take the 422 all day, everyday. And twice on Tuesdays. |

422 over 372 any day! I just love the second hand.
