I ordered a milgauss green and my rolex dist saids he has only the white glass, due to the fact that zafire glass comes with a manufacture problem and rolex is making a recall in each one of those models is that true?

Welcome.

There is no recall. Nothing is wrong with the ones that are aready made. Just delays because of equipment failure in the manufacturing of the crystals. Once fixed they will be pumping them out as fast as possible.

Anyone knows what exactly is wrong with the GV crystals?? Some have reporting "forming problems". Why should a GV crystal be more difficult to cut than an ordinary one??

This is pure speculation. i am sure rolex would have developed the watch a long time before launching it. itrested to know where wolfgang got the informatiom from about the equipment problems though?

The only thing I know about the GV crystal is that is has no LEC. Apparantly, the green edges crystal would make the LEC be for too visible and/or even distort it.

Bo it has nothing to do with the cutting. It's the green tint of the glass that's the problem. Rolex needs extremely high heat ovens to make the green tinted glass, much like the process used to make good synthetic stones. The ovens are catching fire so production is halted till they are fixed. Once fixed they will start production up.

My AD (Overseas) told me that Rolex was buying these crystals from another company. That company went belly up so now they must make in house. They went to make them in house and found out about the oven problems. Delivery is middle of summer at earliest.

I had posted this info last month when my AD had told me.

A source high up at RSC told me expect no more GV Milgauss (green crystal) before the middle of 2008

At least there is some light at the end of the tunnel, and at least those interested can relax for a little while without getting stressed and thinking that their GV might/will arrive next week.

I tried to order one at my AD, but he told me that he would not add more people on the list, but that I could try again late 2008 when he expected to have all on the list supplied with a GV.

This was the other AD that I have not bought so many watches from (in fact, only an SS Sub Date and an SD).

So I might try my good old AD and hear what he can do for me.
