NEED SOME ADVISE. SAFARI or RO Chrono 39mm
I have a decision to make, and have been torn between 4 - AP's ROO a AP RO 39mm Chrono and a VC Overseas.
I narrowed down from Volcano (I really like but would be a part timer on the wrist), Bumblebee (too much yellow for me). Safari (I can do a daily wear- Nice but doesnt blow me away- but growing on me)- Black 'Themes' - Really nice but have so many black face watches- I really like the 39mm (26300) Chrono blue face. I like the way the dial is laid out, Smaller than the others, SS bracelet is nice, overall sharp watch and will complement my 4100 YG 36mm smartly,, I considered the Vacheron only cause its a Vacheron and I dont have one in my collection, yet.. It wears well, but I am kinda sure I would get bored with it. There is my dilemma, Its gonna be a heirloom piece as It will represent my 50th year on the planet. So I want something nice to pass on. I am open to your thoughts.. PS- Saw the ad for HYT H2- seems interesting anyone know anything about them? |

If passing down, maybe something more timeless like the 15400.

The 15400 is nice, but very similar to my 4100, of course only larger as the 4100 is 36mm. That being said the 15400 is VERY nice, but I wanted to add a sporty version. I always thought the ROO was too big, but it wears very well for the size.
The ROC is sweet, but like my AD said its going to mark a significant moment, and to think I originally was going for a Rolex DJ2- 2 tone- with ivory/dia dial.. What was I thinking?? |

For 50 I'd go 15202 if you don't already have one. Iconic and never gets old. If that not an option, I'd go roc. The white face chrono is stunning too.

Sorry I missed out on your age earlier - for 50 years I would suggest the jumbo 15202 this is a timeless piece, pure class and will never go out of style - you can easily pass this on to your next generation and it will be valued for a long long time ..

The 15202, is beautiful, but I already have the 36mm version the 4100 YG, so it’s so close in look that I wanted an impact watch. So I at first dismissed the Safari but after a few weeks, yes weeks of procrastination and the Safari is growing on me. That being said I really like the ROC, that's why I posted here as you good fellows will definetly help me choose wisely.
And I thank you all for your input, so far all great info. |

I, too, was a big fan of the Safari until I realized it doesn't have lume. Is that important to you?

I would go with the VC Overseas from those choices. Feels more like a 50th watch to me.

The safari is a younger man watch IMO and not fitting a 50 years celebration - AP jumbo or someone suggested VC overseas much more appropriate

Ben thanks for the input I didn't realize about the lume. So I have something else to think of. Most of my watches dont have it, so I guess its not a big deal.

I find the safari as having a very bland dial.
It's a very understated ROO but most people that buy ROO's are looking for character of the watch. Go for the 39 or a different ROO. |

between those three, i would say the ROC.
by the way, can't really say that your avatar is in good taste, though. |

I am leaning toward the ROC at this point. But knowing me I will change my mind. I am actually wearing a friends ROO rubberclad for a few days, to see how it wears for more than 10 minutes in the store. So far so good, but I have been taking it off at work, where I never took off my 4100, or my DJ or any other watch. It may be I am concerned about taking care of his watch, or it’s just too big. I will let you know if it’s a subconscious reflex to take care of his property...

I have made a similar choice to celebrate my 50th year on the planet too! And I went 15400 with blue face. Not seen it yet but am convinced its very special and will not age - well not any more quickly than I do myself.... So my recommendation is the RO Chrono Blue.
Have to say the Safari is also a beautiful piece - was my first AP - but was not comfortable for me with deployant. But also beautiful watch. Whatever you choose - good luck, wear if well and in good health - and happy birthday!! |
