First Tudor sub, vintage or modern?
I'm considering to get my first Tudor sub, but I'm not sure which one.
I have three candidates so far, Black Bay, 79090 or any vintage subs(around 70s). The vintage ones may be less durable than modern ones, which is my major concern. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Charles |

Vintage ones plenty durable IMHO so that not an issue. As for modern or vintage: On this forum modern and in vintage section vintage.
Go for one you like better. For me vintage all the way!

Easiest would be the Black Bay
Vintage is fun but requires a lot of research unless you have someone out hunting for you

My vote is for vintage. Mine is circa 1978 and I have had no problems.

But vintage ones usually don't come with bracelet or bracelet damaged too much. I don't know how much a nice bracelet worth for a dive watch whole, like 79090 or older.

The Black Bay looks pretty vintage but has all the advantages of being new and on the top of the technology curve.

You can't go wrong with either route.
You can go real vintage all the way up to more modern. In order of vintage from an age standpoint, 79090 and 79190 are from the 90's 76100 is from the 80's 9401, 9411 are from the early 70's to the mid 80's (my 9411 is from 73) 7016, 7021 are late 60's to early 70's 7928 is early 60's to late 60's Or you can go more modern. If you prefer the snowflake look, also consider the Pelagos. I'm not as big a fan of the blackbay and the main reason being for me, snowflake hands belong with a snowflake dial. I just purchased a Pelagos to go with my 2 snowflakes. Should have it tomorrow. Can't go wrong either way with a Tudor Sub though.

just had this Baby serviced and pressure tested, good to go for another 10 years. Put a new bezel insert on, but kept the original faded one...

I love Tudor subs
However you get the best of both worlds with the Black Bay Snowflake Dome Gilt |
