Oakley watch vault

I have had a look at these and the seem like they may be the ideal way to store a watch. However, I have a couple of questions for anyone who might be using them already.

First, how well will they fit a Rolex (from Datejust to DeepSea)?

Secondly, I note that they zip up around their circumference. Is there any prospect of the inside of the zipper clipping the bracelet or watch head as it opens and closes? My idea is to reduce minor nicks to the minimum caused by wearing the watches, so I would want to avoid that.

First of all good luck finding one, they are sold out everywhere, small size that is. I have 5 or 6, the small size fits the watches in my sig line perfectly. I would think that the small would be fine for the DJ, not sure about the DS though, may have to move up to the large size. As to the zipper making contact there is a strip of material that encases the zipper as it closes. Note however that the Oakley logo is riveted on, on the early models these rivets are NOT covered with felt as they are on the newer moldels, something to think about if you're buying sight unseen. Good luck.

I use these to store stuff at the bank. I can confirm that the small fits 40mm Rolex perfectly and the DSSD will NOT fit in the small one. It actually swims a bit in the large model. I have some 45-47mm watches that fit quite well in the large. I have one 50mm watch that barely fits in the large but it does fit. The small is ideal for 40mm and my guess is a 36mm watch would flop a bit.

I put my DSSD in the small. It just strains the zipper a bit. Fits better then the large because it does flop around in the large. There is another version on Amazon right now for 12 bucks and its 90% as good as the oakley, only issue is the "pinched" area in the middle isn't as tight as the oakley so the watch moves around a little but otherwise is a much lower cost and available option.

The large vaults work and the zipper won't nick anything...but it's far cheaper to re-purpose something you already own...

Thanks for all the replies. I will have a look at the Amazon link this evening. So far it's 77T who seems to be closest to my current practise in the way he stores his watches!

I have a few (large I think) and they are fine for all my watches. Great for travelling and storage I the safe etc. Even just as a safe place to put your watch at home.

No chance of the zip catching the watch, but I usually wap cover the watch in a glasses lense cleaning cloth too anyway.

You kind of wonder if Oakley has upped their manufacturing production quantities since their Small Vaults have sold out so quickly...plus I would imagine that their will be a price increase once they do become available. Now cotton socks are not fancy but they work, never go out of stock and their price is manageable!!!

Take it easy.....Leo

Just a quick review of the Casebudi cases. I just received two sets of the updated Casebudi from amazon today and comparing to the large Oakley vault cases, they are very similar in fabric and finish. They've updated the exterior to the ballistic type nylon, the interior is soft like the Oakley and the dimple in the middle is very similar to the Oakley as well. I am using the large Oakley case vaults for my IWB BP and two Panerais. The Casebudi fits the 40mm Rolex very well and snug with minimal movement. I will be fitting them on my Red Sub, GMTII, TT Sub and Zenith. All in all I'm very satisfied with the Casebudi.

IMO, forget the long wait for them to return to stock and I wouldn't fork over a premium for the Oakley soft vault on ebay either.

If they actually do bring it back I doubt they are upping the quantities they order seeing as they are no longer selling the womens watches these went with. My sense is that the TRF run on the last of the small WVs occurred when it started getting posted on here that some stores no longer had them. We all proceeded to go out in a panic and gobble up the rest of them, as did the Ebay opportunists. I really don't think in Oakley's scheme of things these are a big seller. Not saying they won't bring them back, just that it's not a top priority and probably isn't being discussed at the Board meeting. I doubt heads have rolled inside corporate over this.
