Watch insurance
Hi do you insure your watch on your household insurance. I have added mine to my policy and they see it is covered for any eventuallity, however what do you think would happen if the glass was smashed for example. Would the insurance company make me have the watch repaired at any old repairers, or would they send it to Rolex? Does anybody have any experience on claims?

I don't have experiance in claims but Iassume it depends on your coverage and your deductable. For me I'm insured against loss or catastrophic damamge but I wouldn't/couldn't make a $500 claim for a new crystal because of my deductable. I'm just coved if it's a total loss, repairs are my responsibility

Louisa,
I was once involved in a traffic accident where a car hit my as I was riding my bicycle. I flew over the roof and landed on my left arm. Luckily I got away with some minor scuff marks, but the SS Sub Date I had at the time got a nasty scratch on the crystal and bezel and some small scratches on the case and band. I phoned my insurance company about it, and they just to me to have it repaired and then send the bill to them, which I did. A new crystal, bezel and total service was DKR. 4,950 back then (about 900 US Dollars).

A client of mine reommended that I join AARP to get access to their insurance. I did. The car insurance alone was amazing (through The Hartofrd). They now carry my home owners insurance and provide very inexpensive riders that provide replacement value insurance for my Expy II for any circumstance. Not that many of you would qualify to jon AARP (you must be 50), but its like $12/year to join and the insurance quotes are worth it.

JEWELERS MUTUAL INSURANCE is possibly the best deal. If anything at all happens to your watch. even if it mysteriously dissapears. its covered. $10,000 Rolex YM TT MOP for $135. They will cut you a check for the amount of the appraisal
