1603 "wideboy" question

Hello all,
By my own admission I'm a Datejust novice. Is this a "wideboy"? I know it's hard to say from one pic but does the dial look legit?
Thanks,
Nathaniel

Thanks for showing off the wideboys guys! It official, I need one. It seems like a sigma dial may be the way to go.

Bumping this thread a bit: I love the wideboy dial but I've noticed a lot of them have hands with dirt/marks on them...is it possible to have them "cleaned" or is it the lume that has fallen off?

Wideboy refers to the markers and bands being, well, wide. Heres mine with correct hands.

why is the bezel of your 1603 fluted? I thought it is supposed to be "engine turned"? OR coin edged?

They're out there. Here's one I picked up on ebay two weeks ago for 2k.

Perfect non-lume dial, tight bracelet, fat but dinged case, clean movement -

so keep looking, you'll find yours!

I've been on Ebay looking as well for some wideboys. Love the dials.
Can you tell me what is meant by a fat case?
Also, I see a lot of Wideboys but the hands are not the wide ones. Does a wideboy dial always have wide hands?
Thanks for the info.

btw Al, Your WB is hot! and 2k for that is a real deal, I see them going for close to 3k.
Cheers!

Thanks! - Many of the wide boys have had the hands replaced with thinner hands. The original hands are the wide ones matching the indexes. Wide Boy refers to the wide indexes and hands. If the watch doesn't come with the wide hands finding a replacement set is next to impossible.

By fat case I mean that the case and lugs have not been over polished. The lugs are still thick.

Thanks Al, was out again last night at some local 2nd hand shops looking for a WB. No luck, but saw a few nice 1601s.
Thanks again for the info on your beautiful WB.
cheers!
