GMT II or Daytona??

I am thinking of a Rolesor GMT II or Daytona with black MOP face. I have a SS Sub so am a little worried with the GMT it might be too similar. I tried on a GMT today and almost bought it on the spot. That new bezel is awesome. Do you think the difference in the sub and the 2 tone GMT would be enough or would I just have 2 of the same watch? I have a TAG SS link chrono, the Sub SS, Gold B-1 and a PAM 112. I have also been mulling over a leather band white gold Daytona in this mix but think I need a 2 tone! Thanks for any input.

Welcome to TRF!

If you had said an SS GMT IIc, I would have said that is resembles the Sub Date too much, but the TT GMT IIc is a totally different looking watch. The SS/gold combo and gold numbers on the bezel make the difference, visually that is.

The Daytona would be even more different, but would you ever use the chronograph and would you not miss the date feature?

No context. Daytona any day if I could even think about affording one.

I appreciate the opinions so far. It's tough making this choice. Anyone own the Sub and a GMT? Do you wear them both?

Thanks.

Two totally different watches. Forget about owning the sub. You can always flip it.
Get whichever one you like most and then flip the sub if you think that they are too similar.
A change is always a good thing.

At one time I did own both and found them to be too similar for my tastes. If I had a collection of over a dozen watches, I could conceive of having both, but for a small collection, then I personally would just get one or the other.

Get the Daytona

The Tona' maybe a better investment, and a beautiful watch in it's own right, but I love the GMT, plain and simple.

Though a Tona' with leather....

GMT IIC or Daytona is a great looking watch. The chrono on the Daytona is really cool. Get both :) ~Hien

Don't sell that Sub, and buy Daytona first. And in your next purchase then you buy GMT II-C!!!
Oh yeah, and...WELCOME TO TRF!!!

Well I ordered the GMT TT today. I also decided to go for the stainless Daytona. I am #2 on my mans list. I will depart with my Sub when the Daytona comes in. Choices, choices.

#2 on the list? Lucky you. All the ADs I talk to in the UK tell me they have stopped having a list once it got over 5 years. I just don't know how to get a new one without paying 25% extra. I think the dealers are buying them all and then selling them privately.

But what can I do?

Yes, grey market is the only way at the moment but why should I pay £5500 for something which costs £4400? This is where Rolex should step in and make sure these watches go through the right channels and get to real AD customers.

I don't mind waiting for a year or two and I don't mind paying full list. Also, I'm nervous going for grey market as I want a cast-iron warranty and professional service back-up if I spend that sort of money.

Come on Rolex. Look after your loyal customers! You are encouraging grey markets which encourage fakes!!!

End of rant.

SS daytonas are so rare here at dealerships. 2 years have passed since i moved to a big city because of my studies and i have never seen an SS daytona at a dealership. Keep in mind that i pass by the dealership every day. I was able to see only some TT versions and a full gold version

I'm not surprised that you never see the SS Daytonas in the dealership. I doubt if anybody does anywhere, ever. They all go out the back door of the dealerships and get sold to the grey market or there is a waiting list and they go straight to the new owner. Either way, nothing in the window.
