So, a great pal of mine has been desperate to change his twenty year old Tag Heuer Formula watch for either a Patek 5980 or Offshore. And for two whole months I received emails with pictures of watches entitled "how about this one"?

Then suddenly a purchase was made for a BNIB grey ti themes and shortly after I received the customary email with a wrist shot and it was very nice indeed and everything seemed right in the world for the following 24 hours.

The following day I received a call from my pal explaining that he was in significant pain with his wrist and he was going to have to return the watch to the dealer. It seems that the size of the watch and perhaps even the metal bracelet may have aggravated a relatively recent mountain biking injury.

I'm slightly concerned that my pal may be going soft so I thought I might post a couple of photos to see if he deserves any sympathy, after all this was his 40th birthday present to himself.

Full marks to the dealer for the refund too!

How about he wait until his injury is over and get back to enjoying that great piece or is that permanent?

I sprained my wrist a few months ago and got really panicky for a second thinking I might not be able to wear watches or at least heavy ones any more so I started coming to terms with being a rightie. Im OK now tho.

He sure deserves sympathy for suffering, no one should have to live with pain. However, I would agree with George and wait until the pain is gone and perhaps retry the watch before really thinking about getting rid of it, as far as I know a watch made of titanium isn't that heavy, I know it wouldn't make me suffer much more while wearing it.

I wish him a speed recovery!

I've broken my right arm 3 times and understand his pain... please wish him the best! However, how about using his other arm?

This is how his wrist is now forever...or until the next accident. It happened two years ago so the recovery is as good as it will get already.

That looks like it had to hurt big time! Sorry to hear he can't wear the AP. Perhaps a Patek Aquanaut? Very light watch with the rubber band.

If it's been 2 years, then it's fully healed and as you said "as good as it's gonna get".
Maybe he needs something lighter? Maybe a strap instead of metal bracelet?

Forged Carbon! FWIW, I had shoulder surgery two years ago and it has been hurting so much lately that I had to start PT again ... These things never go away once damaged.

Great idea but the purchase has to be for casual AND work and not scream expensive....so as amazing as RM's are, they are just too obvious.

Bizarrely, he is already back doing crazy mountain biking and extreme skiing! Daft really that a titanium watch is causing pain.

Its a good enough reason, we can't feel someone else's pain, So what he was wearing before caused no discomfort? Then get something along those lines, or get the FC very light weight.
