Icon4 Is Submariner II going to show up one day?

Hello everyone,

I am here wondering regarding the future evolution of the lovely Submariner. Many of you might share the same sense of curiosity with me about the mysterious future that this watch will face. We have witnessed the appearance of the Explorer II, GMT Master II, DJ II, Day Date II, but what about Submariner II? Is that name going to see sun light anytime soon? If so what will be changed?

Another thing, we all know that the Submariner is water resistant up to 300M underwater, but come on almost all its rivals have exceeded this number long time ago. I know that we have DSSD, but that thing is huge! Why don't engineers at Rolex top it up to 500M or something? Don't you guys feel irritated when a friend of yours who owns an Omega PO simply tells you that his watch beats your Subby!

Share your ideas and expectations with us please.

No, can't dive that deep anyway. To me the Deepsea replaces the need for a SubII

I agree with Willie, Rolex already makes the Deepsea. I think my sister's two year old has a Subby that he plays with along with his Ducky in the Tubby. However, I own a Submariner and love it.

IMO the datejust and DD is still better than the newer II while the gmt master II due to many changesmin the case and movement while the Explorer II is called such because I believe that name suits it alot just like its less sporty explorer I brother. The submariner unlike the 2 IIs that are sport models is 40mm which I think is a nice size. So no doubt they will make one. BTW you left out YM II lol

In what world do you live in where you even bother listening to an argument like that? Are you 12 or something?
I'm guessing his Dad can also beat up your Dad right?

Besides, the average user will never dive below 30m and the general consensus is to get 10 times more to cater for movement and variations so 500m is completely useless unless you're professional diver and even then, you would likely use professional computers. You don't see people here saying that the DSSD is better than the Submariner because it has a higher depth rating do you?

Buy a watch because you like it, not because it "beats" your friends omega.

I'm surprised at the answers. It does seem that II gets added to Rolex models at some point. I like the YM II better than the YM. I have a GMT-II.
That said I love my Sub and don't see a need to change it. But it wouldn't surprise me if it evolved into a II.

Hope they don't. That's what the SD/DSSD is anyways.

I get the first part and could see some new iteration becoming a II at some point. However, all I can say is WOW to the second part of the OP...

The only time that a watch model gets the II designation is if there is already another with the same name in the marketplace..

Unless they release another Sub Date at the same time, you will likely never see a II designation..

As an aside, what may have been a Sub Date II was the Sea Dweller - but it got it's own name..

The Submariner is already perfection and always has been. There will never be a need for a Submariner II.

The new ceramic is probably as far as this model will go for a while.

Apparently the market as a whole disagrees with you based on sheer numbers of people whom are willing to pony up more money for a Submariner over Omega PO. I easily prefer the looks of the Sub to the PO. You, or your friend I should say, may not. Nothing wrong with that, as choices and different opinions are what make life great.

That said, you could simply tell him to meet you with your local high end watch shop or high end watch broker and watch him cry as the offer you 3 to 4 times more $$$ for your Rolex sub than they do for his Omega which he will be lucky to get a 1/3 of what he paid for it!

Oh, if you call it a Subby though, they might offer you a lolly pop instead of cash value!

Never feel inferior with a Rolex. Especially to an Omega, a glorified swatch (great products but...)
I have a Submariner 200M & 300M, plus a DSSD. I can assure you the beating my K series has taken in and out of water is amazing and it still it still runs perfect. a simple RSC polish and it looks new, literally.
This cannot be said about the Omega.
So let your non horologue friends believe the adverts of Omega and Rivoli (local Omega Agent). In a few years they will truly find the inferior value their watch

Whatever Rolex' product planners may have in mind for the Submariner down the road, I am quite happy with my modest collection.

I think I'd just point out that people might be like the watch they wear and in the case (sic) of the PO, it's nice enough, but possibly a little thick....

I don't know. None of my friends do the peeing contest thing. I doubt a submariner II will every happen. There's already a sea dweller. 300m, 500m same difference, you'll never get passed 100. Or 30 for that matter.
