rolex pricing

Do Rolex control how much AD can sell their watches? meaning AD all have the same price for a particular watch.

I believe Rolex gives them a suggested msrp. Dealers can discount, but can not over charge. Those that know better than I will be along soon.

My AD does a 5% discount off MSRP even if you use a credit card.

Depends on where you will buy your watch.

In the US, most AD's don't give discounts at all. Some may give 5-15% discount depending on the model and your relationship with the AD.

Whereas, Canadian ADs can give discounts ranging from 15-25% on even popular SS sports models.

Rolex price to AD sets a floor - no AD will routinely sell below cost of goods.

Rolex distribution channel (e.g., Rolex USA) also prints a master price list providing retail prices.

Laws in different countries limit the relationship a manufacturer may have in controlling independent AD discounting efforts. Here in USA, the AD solely sets the final deal discount.

I paid $6400 for a DJ II MSRP $7150, there was no tax. That was from an AD

My AD does not discount AT ALL. First thing he said when I walked over to the Rolex case. So being how rude he was, I bought from a Grey Dealer on the site and saved $2500. (Used, but a G serial)

I have done plenty of research and buying....buying from an AD is throwing money away....buying from trusted sellers here is the way to go.....for new or used watch.

I got a substantial discount a few years ago on my Exp II and got 7.5% discount on my Daytona. My AD has now lost their Rolex product line. Not because of discounts but due to low volume.

Here are the quotes I got about an hour ago from my AD:

DSSD- $9300 out the door
Sub LVC - $7000 out the door
pre loved LVC- $6200

I'm REALLY liking th DSSD price

I spent about $16,000 in there recently, so I appreciate the discounts.

Some of you need to find a new AD.

Show me ANYBODY here selling BNIB LVC for $7000.

If your AD won't discount on common models, then shop around. You WILL find a nearby dealer that will discount...even if it's only a pretty small %.

Hey, 5% on $8,000 is a lot of money.

I was looking at gmt 116713 tt and dealer says 13700 + tax for it.
she says we can work out the tax if I choose to have it ship to an address out of state.

IMO, the common models 12 percent is common, sports model or models with higher demands or almost no discount.

Price fixing is where multiple manufacturers collaborate on prices of items that are supposed to compete in the market. If a single manufacturer wants to set a firm price on their product they are free to do that - if the free market works and that price is too high the manufacturer will lose sales.

I have bought new from an AD and used. Both are ok. I prefer the AD route when I think it will be a keeper. Like to know the watch is virgin and only mine from the beginning.

Hong Kong ADs and Rolex Boutiques all seem to do 5% discount, across the board.

same here I prefer the AD route, I am thinking of getting a gmt master tt next year and would probably go with the AD route. It just gives me a peace of mind about authenticity, I dont know much about Rolex and dont want to end up getting a fake one. going to a AD eliminates that.

I would take the BNIB sub LVC as well as the pre owned at those prices. Jump on it.

If I could get an LVc for $7k it would be on my wrist tomorrow. Which begs the question - why isn't it on yours?

I thought the same thing when I first joined this forum, but after months of research I bought (now my second watch) from DAVIDSW and it's the only way to go. There are more than reputable sellers on here and you can easily see the ones who have sold MANY watches. It's pointless to buy from an AD unless money is no object IMHO.
