Forged Carbon Diver...and Sharks!!!

Went on a honeymoon to Tahiti and stayed in many places throughout the Society Islands but one of the highlights was this:

I wonder...how would ceramic and forged carbon stand up to a bite?...

Glad I didn't have to find out. Hope you are all enjoying this fabulous hump day

Great pic Jason....

Also interested to hear your thoughts on either Bora Bora, or Moorea, if you stayed in either one (or both).?

Stayed at both, and I'd say they are pretty different although similar enough. It's just a matter of budget.

Mo'orea is a little more humble and modest in all it's lodging and prices. The island itself is very slow paced, the nicest resorts there would be the Intercontinental and the Hilton. Both very nice but if you go to Bora Bora after you'll think the places you stayed on in mo'orea were a dump in comparison. So I suggest you do mo'orea first as to not get jaded. This island also has a bit more activity to do that are land based. Like golf, which cannot be done ion bora bora. Restaurants are plentiful as well in comparison

Bora bora is that island getaway where you barely leave the hotel. Just like in postcards and nat geo: sand bottom lagoons and overwater huts everywhere. Just post up and relax. Restaurants on the main island Are pricey And the good ones you have to reserve ahead of arrival. But it's sweet. PM me if any of you plan on going and ill explain more!

Great pic. How deep were you? The dial on the Diver looks clear as day.

My heart beat a little faster looking at that pic!

Not sure what caused it, the fear or the beauty.

I triple checked all seals and torque'd the crowns extra hard. Happy to report, no water damage yet!

Thanks for the insight Jason.

Already booked actually, and we are staying in Moorea first (4 day/nights), before moving on to Bora Bora (6 day/nights). Hilton properties on both.
Looking forward to it, and all the available water activities...

bring a Visa or MC, leave the American Express at home. most activities must be paid in cash so exchange beforehand.

book all your tours yourself, the hotels charge a commission so you can save yourself 30%.

on Bora Bora, YOU MUST get a table at Villa Mahana (call them...NOW. its nearly impossible to get a table within a week or two).

also, call the St. Regis Bora Bora direct for a table at Jean Georges' "Lagoon"...its breathtaking (outside table is a must)

on Mo'orea, Rudy's is a nice dining spot. and most places on Mo'orea pick you up from the hotel. (I stayed at Hilton on Mo'orea...very nice place.) I would also recommend Hiro's Tours for the Lagoon tour, that's where the shark picture above was taken (they feed rays and nearby Black Tip Reef sharks come to say Hello!...very friendly)

Shark and ray tour definately on the cards, just not sure which Island yet.....
Good to know about booking outside the hotel to avoid their slice of the pie!
Also thinking of giving the underwater scooter a go with the wife. She doesn't dive, so it may be an alternative for her (and I) to do together. At least 2 dives for me (both Islands) and a jetski tour with a private motu lunch also...
Looking forward to it! Thanks Jason, and will look at the reservations you suggested!
