Bumble-Bee, take this with a grain of salt...

Took a trip over to the Natick Omega Boutique at lunch time and the staff revealed THEIR assertion that the Co-Ax Seamaster Aqua Terra Anti-Magnetic (code name Bumble-Bee) will be available in February 2014 at a retail price of $6,600.

No reason to doubt the man who said this, just always take AD's information at arms length, since they are more interested in sales than factual accuracy. If true, this seems reasonable for such a break-through watch and the timing seems a little delayed like most U.S. allocations of new pieces. I think I read Europe may have them by the end of October?

Thought some of might like to know...

This watch is something that should blow the minds of true thinking horophiles...
the fact that they could produce a watch as such - that antimgetic, and offer a Date and display back...that is incredible!!

I wish they would have put it in a different case though...nothing (other than the second hand - my least favorite feature) that makes it distinctive from any pedestrian aqua terra....


But still, An amazing achievement for Omega!!

If I didn't already have 2 ATs..I'd feel the need to have this one!

Personally, I love it. The seconds hand is great. I like details like this, just like the lightning bolt on the Milgauss. However the 15,000 trumps the Milgauss in every way technologically. Round 2 to Omega.

Fantastic. It could be that I'm tired and have been spending money hand over fist these days on car repairs / tires but that retail price doesn't seem bad for this one.

For your sake hope I am dead wrong--but with the new '57 Speedys coming in at $9,200--is there anyway possible this comes in nearly the same price as current Aqua Terra models?

I think the plan is to have this movement or variations of the 8508 be part of most of their model offerings in the near future.

From what I read they will have this technology in all references that have the coaxial escapement

Bumblebee is in!!

Went to see it in person at the Omega Boutique in Natick MA, they called me yesterday to say it was in. I went at lunch time to take a look, MSRP is $6,600 it was stunning and like a dope I left my phone at work so I didn't take pictures. But it wears small, and is more in line with the dress aqua-terra's. It has a display back and a double clasp. a real beauty. I have decided to not be an early adopter. It's a not that I don't think the watch is worth it, it really is great, I just want to wait until I see how it's received over the next year. If I'm being honest is actually too small for me and if it was perfect I would have bought it today, but it wasn't, not for me anyway.

So be on the lookout, should be coming to a boutique near you very soon!!

When you say it's too small for you is it the same as my 38.5 mm "Skyfall"? And do you feel that's too small as well ot is it just an optical illusion with the different colours?

Out of interest what size are you? I'm 6'3", 195 and with a 7.25' wrist and I love the look of the blue 38.5.

You know what Mark, it just didn't sing to me, that's all I can say. I'm blown away by the technology, the advancement for horology and I was ready to fall in love with it. Looking at it in the metal-flesh I just didn't feel anything, it left me empty. I wanted to love it, I should have loved it, I didn't. When push comes to shove and the wife asks me why I spent three mortgage payments on a watch (and she does shove me sometimes) I had better love that watch and be ready to defend it, I wasn't! That's the god's honest truth...

I am sad about it!

When I say it's small it's not that it doesn't fit me, it's that I prefer a larger watch. It fit me fine but I wanted a true 42MM chunk, and it wasn't that.

Yeah, they called me at said it was in. Sorry, not paying list price for an Omega (I don't for a Rolex, or any other watch, why for an Omega?)

Wait a few months and you'll can get it at 20-25% off.

Nice watch though, I really like it. Pity about the PCL...

I too really love the technology and innovation behind this. I'm hoping they release more dial options next year.

I know Omega said the idea is to roll this movement out across the brand but something tells me it will be at least 5 years until that happens.

Had a chance to try this on today at the boutique.

$6600 is the correct price.

I was skeptical about the design from the stock photos but this thing is awesome in person.

Even my wife loved it and she typically just gives an eye roll when I stop in somewhere to try on a watch.

Definitely moved to the top of my short list.

Did you guys realize that early photos of this watch (like the one from OP) displayed a slightly different dial where the arabic numerals surrounding the dial where in white, but in later photos, like on Omega's website, they are now in yellow.



Personally, I think less yellow looks better in this case.

It's a great watch but I think $6,600 regardless of technology is sort of crazy for Omega.

I also went to my local boutique to see one. Put in on my wrist (approx. 7 inches) and it looked and felt great. Not overwhelming and not underwhelming. Then I moved on the the Dark Moon which I thought would be more interesting but it wasn't. Lastly, I tried the 1957 re-issue which was the nicest of the bunch, especially in titanium with blue hands, but the price was a little oft putting. I would certainly consider the "bumble bee" once it has been out a bit.

I agree John, I think they are well within their rights to charge what they want for this new technology, but it isn't a price I was willing to jump at just because I could.

i think it looks sharp , dial and hand combo very close to the dynamic 3 from the 99 ish era ,
my daily wear at the moment , and loving it.
