I customize my watches each time I wear them. I have no desire to improve upon an original design

Sacrilege.

I'm for minor mods here and there, but never changes that extreme. These are disposable cars.

I'm not a fan of a mod like this.
But, people can do whatever they'd like to their own piece. It's their money and potential happiness.

I like the brushed link bracelet on that example + the black ceramic bezel vs. polished SS.

But when they start PVD'g, I sort of checkout

I'm not sure I love their work...but I'm generally a fan of some of what they make.

Although, for the price, I don't think it's right for me.

What do I think ! Depends what you mean ?

What do I think about the look, hmm I'm not a fan, but each to their own.

What do I think about doing it ! Up to the owner/buyer really, its thier watch and thier choice and who am I to try and push my thoughts about modifying someone's own property.

I actually like modding, its customising something to an individuals taste, I'm sure if Rolex offered an in house service of modification people's opinion would differ.

I like what they do. The less desirable features (suck as the 'x' logo) can be deleted
I love this mod in particular... www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=130202

I don't care for the mods myself, but I can respect someone trying to make their piece their own.

I've seen some of their designs that look kind of cool, but nothing that would make me turn my watch over to them...

Every lower middle rung watch brand ( and worse - some upper middle too) have been falling all over themselves to rush out a PVD or DLC black coated model and although initially somewhat compelling as seen with project x - now has become passe. Passe like the use of the letter X in things like brand name or logo. It has become like the use of scary biker sculls - now to be found on childrens socks. NO! not rolex - buy lower rung for this type of coolness....if you must.

I like the designs (if you can call them that because they modifications relate primarily to colours and materials the intrinsic Rolex design remains).

However, I would not buy one of these ("X" isn't a particularly alluring insignia).

The watch is not a 'Rolex' and Rolex will immediately tell you that when you take a watch to them.

What I appreciate Project X Designs for is perhaps giving some added inspiration to Rolex for its future designs and aesthetic diversity.

I am not really familiar with all of the mods, but I am okay with that Daytona up top. Generally I think it is unappealing to pimp things out.

I like mods that look "factory" like these. In the car world I think the term is sleeper. Looks stock but isn't. They don't really compete withe original design almost could have come from the drafting table's waste basket.

Yes, I have to admit that I really like the looks of that particular Daytona. If Rolex were to produce that watch and debut it in Basel, I think it's safe to say it would sell like hot cakes!

looks nice but if one does that much to a $12k + rolex, why not just buy a donor watch and make it for 1/10 or less the cost?

I looked again + enlarged the pic - and agree it must've been PVD'd. In the iPhone the image is mighty small.
