White hour markers look rusty... should i be concerned?

I'm taking a close look at the hour markers on my LV-C and upon close inspection I can see that the white markers are not as smooth as the one on the bezel.

When i use a magnifying glass I can see that each marker is a bit rusty in a different pattern. What I mean is that it's not as smooth and the visual imagery of it feels like a piece of dried up wet paper...

Any observations?

Might I suggest you throw your lupe and any other high magnification device away .If you mean the surround lume that's just paint if you mean the surrounds themselves they are white gold and gold does not rust.

One caveat, Peter... As long as the watch is legit and not using steel hands.

It sounds like you are describing the white lume on the markers verses the lume dot on the bezel insert. The lume on the hour markers is of a different material to that on the bezel dot at 12.00 hrs. Under a lupe, marker lume looks rough (paper like)-the bezel dot is plastic and smooth and will appear much different. As for the rust???, the lume may be starting to age and discolour. Post a close-up pic.

Some have noted issues with their dials picking up whitish deposits at the outer edges of the hour plot WG surrounds. It isn't rust or corrosion since genuine Rolex dial shouldn't tarnish, etc. But it is possible some poor QC may have let a minutely dusty dial get in the watch and now the stuff has settled onto the edges.

Best thing to do is have it looked at by a certified watchmaker or AD to see what's up.
