Question about the model: 3570.50

Hi fellas!
I'm looking into getting a manual wind chrono and "think" the model: 3570.50
Is the "one" to have. However, I'd like a display caseback. Is this model available with a display caseback? Or is there another model in the 42 size range that I should research? Isn't the speedy pro the desired piece for a manual chrono?
I'm a Daytona guy so I know absolutely nothing about the speedy and am trying to educate myself. Oh and has to be a bracelet piece.
Thanks in advance!

Speedy pro is the sought after speedie, especially the 3570.50 so that you get the case back of the watch worn on the moon. They are fantastic and I enjoyed mine very much.

3570.50 is the entry level speedy and very popular model. I had one a while ago and regret selling it. It's an awesome watch with great history behind it

The Speedmaster Pro with the display caseback is the 3573.50. The main difference from the 3570.50 is that both front and back of the 3573 are sapphire while the 3570 front is hesalite which many prefer. The hesalite will not shatter like the sapphire could however an unlikely event. The hesalite is easier to scratch however scratches can be removed quite easily. I chose the 3573 because I wanted the display caseback and wasn't concerned about the remote possibility of a shattered face.

Thanks for the info! Does the speedy wear larger than a Daytona or subC?
Also I'm leaning towards a 3573 for the caseback display.

I've owned a couple of dozen Speedy Pros over the years and much prefer the hesalite crystal. I've found that scratches are really a non-issue. Plus, I do not care for the incorrect engraving on the current display backs. (The Speedy Pro was not the only watch worn on the the moon and Jake, the other watch was not a Rolex.)

But the manual Lemania movement begs to be seen so I love display backs:

There are a couple of options that permit going with a hesalite crystal as well as a display back. You can pick up a pre-owned 3572.50 hesalite/sapphire which was replaced by the 3573.50 or rather inexpensively, you can go with an aftermarket back.

To me, it does not wear larger than my GMT II. Even though the face is in fact a little bigger than my GMT, it actually feels a bit smaller because it is lighter.

42mm vs 40mm and wears very close to Daytona and just a tad bigger.

...I've been puzzled by some of your combos here.

My assumptions are that you sourced a few "Professional" display-backs for your Panda and your Replica... .
You added a third-party display-back to your ...105/145.012.
Finally, I guess you have a stock 3592.50 to finish the set.

Assuming all of the above is correct, my last points of confusion are...
...how the heck you ended up with a Replica that has a copper-colored 861...
...and maybe it's just the photo's limited res, but I could swear the 1861 in your Panda has a steel brake...

A great set btw, I would love to move my collection in that same direction

For now, I have to settle for my 3572.50...

I was a bit surprised about the size. I own a Daytona and the 42mm speedy pro wore similarly. When I tried on a 42mm Explorer II, it wore MUCH larger than either imo. BTW the 3570.50 has been discontinued and replaced by 311.30.42.30.01.005. Basically the same watch except that it has screws on the bracelet instead of pins and comes with a large presentation box with additional straps, loop, spring bar tool, etc.

My Speedy is the most-worn watch in my collection. It is closely followed by the II-C, and they wear similarly.

Left to right:

Cal. 321, 105.012 with engraving removed from an OEM case back since the watch was pre-moon

Cal. 861 movement given to me by a friend which I built up into a '57 Replica

Cal. 863, 3592.50 (stock)

Cal. 1863 which began life as a badly abused 3572.50 hence the steel brake. I repaired the movement and added the hands and dial of the 35th Anniversary Apollo 11.

The 861 movement was originally intended for a commemorative of Wally Schirra's Sigma 7 Mercury flight. A friend had a beater with the 861 movement which he donated to the cause. Circumstances did not permit completion of the project so I went with the '57.

Hope that answers your questions.
