Champagne Dial Looks Dated?

I'm in a process in buying a pre-owned president online for a great price. It's late 1990's model and everything seems sound. However, I just can't get over the Champagne Dial because it looks so dated to me. I've only seen pictures so far and it's holding me back from pulling the trigger.

Is the champagne dial really looks that dated in real life?

Don't really know what you mean by dated but if you are looking at a President, that is a classic look with champagne dial. Good luck.

Champagne dial looks elegant. You might have to look at the watch IRL to decide if you like it

The Yellow gold DD with champagne dial is a classic.. if you like that sort of thing.

However, I have never liked the champagne dial and would not have a watch so fitted..

If it's a great deal, you can have another dial fitted for a few hundred bucks (up to a few thousand of course). You just have to decide if it's worth the extra cost or better to get what you want to start with........

It's not a particularly "popular" dial color currently with most watch makers.

However, I agree, it's a pretty "classic" look...and never really looks dated.

The 36mm YG President is already a bit of a throwback, though it's become fashionable lately. The champagne dial fits the character of that watch. Personally, if I was getting a gold President, that's the dial I would get (with standard baton indices).

I can understand why you're asking the question - classic vs. dated. I do recognize it as a true Rolex icon. But I prefer a different (more contemporary for me) dial.

Exactly. The other thing to consider is that Champagne is not the easiest to read with the gold hands on a gold background.

Thanks for the feedback TRF! After looking at dozens of pictures from different angles and lighting, I decided to pass on the piece. The champagne on YG doesn't give any contrast in color on the watch at all. I'll wait for a white roman YG.

The "dated" look is amazing. Wish they had those for the DDII.

It's a classic but it is a little old school. I have one but I'm 55yoa and it seems right for me.I would think a white dial roman for a younger person might be better. But there are no rules wear what you like.

Yoir exactly right. My family Dr. (a fellow Rolex nut like my self) recently changed out the Champagne Dial in his President for the white dial. Much easier to read, and better looking in my opinion.

I like the sunburst champagne dials on DJ or DD, but the Golddust champagne dials are much and much nicer. They make a watch very unique.

You mean the classic, iconic look of the Day Date.......Champagne/Stick dial looks dated to you ??? You should probably be looking for a different watch then......

Very nice. not crazy about the numbers, I would prefer stick or diamond markers.
