What happens when a jeweler meets the crown... 1680 Tiaffany & Co.
Hello all
I missed a 1680 Red Sub in sale here and I could not complete a possible deal with another TRF member for a 16610LV... So I was a bit messed up, when I by chance found an available 1680 old sub with Tiffany & Co. dial. Seller is a a professional and with very good reputation one, so I ended up buying this old jeweler's lady... Case is still in very good condition, with thick lugs, dial is original, hands were changed but for tritium ones, bracelet is ref 93150 with 593 end-links, so the watch really is a great buy for me. Here are some pics, not astonishing quality, but it will show you what kind of watch I'm talking about. Do not hesitate to post comments. Shipping box....  Watch was delivered inside a Tiffany & Co's box, I was told that this 1680 was sold by Christie's NY during a charity auction... If any of you have any information about this, I'll be delighted to hear more about it. I also got the Rolex leaflet from year 1981. Which makes me suppose that the watch was sold in year 1981, although watch reference makes it a 1979 year manufacturing.    Here is the actual watch...

Perhaps you could call Christie's in New York give them the serial number of the watch and the description and ask them to check their past catalogs for charity auctions from 1980 on work they may help you never know.

Rolex shipped the watches to Tiffany whom added the
Dial text and sold the watches through their retail network At the time. |

Lgear080 gave correct answer. In addition, I might say that the actual Rolex watches sold by Tiffany & Co were being delivered with a Tiffany & Co's box, and not the usual Rolex box...

This happens to be one of the best I've seen.
I've never seen an original set of papers though. Wonder if there is mention of Tiffany therein? |

I don't think so except maybe Tiffany & Co as the Rolex dealer on the papers...
Here it is with its good period 93150 with 580 endlinks I've just received...

You mean with new bracelet and endlinks ?
I'm selling the bracelet that was delivered with watch, so let's say that this watch has cost me about a EUR 7000-7500 range price...

Thanks all.
Yesterday, I was in Paris, and managed to have the Tiff's water resistance tested. So I went to the new Bucherer "watch supermaket" and they delivered a truly professional and free watch check. No warranty of course, as the check was performed with the air pressure machine and not the real water resistance one. But I'm happy, because the test's result was : OK ;-)
