Bark day date with a fluted bezel
i'm getting close to buying a 18038 day date 1984 on a bark band. I like the look of a fluted bezel better than the bark. It will be on a fluted bezel. I have a choice. Any examples to show? Thoughts? I know bark isn't popular on this board. I'm also changing the dial to white with gold roman numbers. I've gotten some great advice from the Barkmaster but I'd like some other opinions and pictures. I will wear this everyday or in rotation. Thank you

I'd prefer unadulterated bark.

best not to mix up watches in my opinion, go bark or go normal, not mixed up, the 18000 series has lots of variety

Having a DD bark, I think the bezel bark looks better than any out there.

Jim - not many pictures of that combo will exist. Some DD owners may have barked their bracelets and left the fluted bezel on the head. But it is a rare customization.
If you ever want to sell this watch on, I'd buy it with the bezel you like (afterall YOU are the judge!) But pay to get the barked bezel so you can put the 18038 back right before selling. You can sell the fluted bezel afterward. Just my 2¢

Dont mix and buy the one you like...Bark looks fine...don't expect consensus here and someone will recommend a nato :)
Trust your judgement my friend. |

I stopped by to see the bark bezel this afternoon. The owner wasn't in & I can't see him until Monday so I've got more time. His son showed me a newer day date with a diamond dial & standard band. It's more expensive & I'm not interested in diamonds. A week ago I was ready to buy a 39 Explorer. I started asking myself --what do you want? Day date for a long time--- in 2000 a friend had one & I couldn't take my eyes off it. His was the standard as I recall. I appreciate your help. post pictures if you have a daydate.
