Sub C is My Go-To Watch
I bought a black dial stainless Submariner with ceramic bezel in May of 2011, and it is the go-to watch in my collection.
The TT DJ on a Jubilee bracelet with fluted bezel and acrylic crystal that I bought in 1987 is a beautiful and sentimental piece, and my "safe queen." The Tag Aquaracer 500M I bought before I got the Sub is a heavy lesser-quality imitation. My Hulk and TT Sub-C bluesy are nice, but the Hulk isn't as blingy as the Sub C LN, and the TT is heavier to wear with the gold PCLs on the bracelet. My Panerai 164 is a great piece, keeps great time, and I love that Valjoux wobble. My 351 on the JV looks great with the gold hands and tobacco dial. The Radiomir 380 is a nice, dressy watch, and the 000 should be the cornerstone of any Panerai collection. When I tire of the straps and size of these watches, its back to my Sub C. My Omega Seamaster Proplof is what it is, and the mesh bracelet is a nice touch, but it's a heavy piece. My Heritage Chrono Blue and Black Bay are nice "throwback" Tudor pieces, but they are thicker cases and overall larger watches than my Sub C. I'm grateful to have been in a position to build such a nice collection, I enjoy every watch, but my Sub C gets more than it's share of wrist time. ![]() |
