US vs European markets history?

I've been somewhat fascinated by the vintage Rolex markets in Europe (namely GB and Italy) compared to the US market.

I keep seeing models show up (esp. in Italy) that are absolutely stunners... more rose gold, more stylish/almost "pretty" (for lack of a better word) watches. GB seems to have some classic versions that never show up in the US

Alas, i am well aware of the problems of buying an overseas Rolex when it comes to US customs.

Any thoughts on this? historical market share info? I looked for old threads, no luck...

thanks
