AP 15400 questions
Hey guys, thinking of getting an AP 15400 at some point. A couple questions:
1. How does the AP service cost for a date only watch like the 15400 compare to a Rolex Sub, for example? 2. Are the service intervals pretty much the same as Rolex? ( i.e. 5 years or so?) 3. How have you found the 3120 movement to be? How reliable and accurate compared to the equivalent. ( i.e 3135) thanks |

I have a 15400ST for sale now. Black Dial. Depends on who does service to answer your first question. Some shops have fine watchmakers that used to work for Rolex, AP, but aren't AD'S. and are cheaper than their counterparts. Smaller shops can also do a quicker
turnaround than the Big Boy's. Service is about the same 3-5 years for service. as for the movement, you could start a war. Both have advantages. 3135 has 50 hr reserve. 3120 has 60 hr reserve. Both are excellent in their own ways. Bottom line is do they work, and keep accurate time. Yes. the 3120 has 40 jewels. The 3135 31 Jewels. I think it's a win-win. I mean, theres not a downside here. Either one is great. Again. Just my 2 cents. |

3120 movement has been reliable. I have a Daytona, Sub, and GMT so love Rolex, but man, I adore the 15400.

ive got a 15400 st 3120 ; and had sub with a 3135
both can be said imo to be as accurate as each other (+/-1sec) over a 10day period power reseve is longer on 3120 though if it matters !??! i believe the service intervals are about the same if you want to play by the book - but i personally never had a watch serviced! although i understand a AP service does cost considerably more than a rolex one on average - tho i have no proof or quotes of that. |
