New Rolex
Just picked up my first Rolex. Black Face Datejust ii w/fluted bezel this week. Loving it & makes me wanna sell all my other watches. Really, I can't see myself wearing them.
So I'm so in love with my Rolex, I'm going out today to pick up either a Submariner Ceramic or GMT Master ii (likely in black as I can get the best deal from the Rolex Boutiques in black). This will be my after work & weekend watch. I've spent many late nights reading & watching vids on the watches unique & similar characteristics. Such a difficult decision. However, yesterday I wore my datejust ii with t-shirt & shorts which actually really shows it off & I had great feeling that I can wear such a watch even casually to pick up a burger to go, just because I'm blessed that I can. Other than the specs & suggesting I follow what feels & looks good, please consider sharing anything else I should consider or what you enjoy about either of these (Submariner vs GMT Master ii) watches. Thnx so much. Awesome forum! Have a great day & wear your Rolex in good health Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2 |

Can't go wrong with either one. Just a matter of taste. I went with the Sub C and love it today as much as the day it arrived. Both are awesome

Congratulations and welcome to TRF, great bunch of enabelers here! As far as choosing between the Sub and the GMT, tough choice. Keep in mind though that the GMT has the PCL's which are going to show scratches easier than the Sub's brushed bracelet.

I have both the Sub and the GMT and they are both great watches. You can't go wrong with either. You need to try them on to see if one just calls to you.
The Sub has the Glidelock clasp that a lot of people like. The GMT is a little more versatile with the TZ complication making it a world class travel watch. The the GMT is very popular, but you see a lot more Subs out on the streets so the GMT is a little more unique. I don't have to tell you about brushed versus polished center links since you have a DJII. No wrong answer.

Welcome! You can't go wrong with either one. My choice when I was faced with the same decision was the GMT II. Not sorry I did and I'll likely pick up a Sub as well!

Congrats on the DJ. I bought a brand new 116710 and only kept it for 3 months. Never came to love it and it wasn't the pcls scratching that bothered me as much as the smudging! Drove me crazy wiping it down all the time. I flipped it and now have a 114060 that I'm loving. Go with what you like most but try them on. You will know.
Edit: one other thing I have noticed is that the gmt sitting closer to my wrist was pulling my arm hairs out. Literally. I had to use tweezers to get them out of the crack in the case back. Since I've been wearing the sub it hasn't happened yet. I guess because the case back makes it ride higher. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2

Congratulations. As you are looking for a weekend watch I will suggest the Submariner no date. Less faffing about each Friday night / Saturday morning to set it.

Congrats. As others have said you can't go wrong with either the GMT or Sub. The Sub was my first watch but over the last several years I have really come to love the 16710. It is a very versatile watch and you can get different bezel inserts and change the look.

I'd go for the Sub since the DJII already gives you the PCLs. The all brushed bracelet is a nice change up, but either one is a winner.
