I'm looking for a Rolex that will be worn daily (is this feasible?). My question is should I go for a new Submariner or a SD (I would go DS but can't swing it right now)? If the SD is "collectible" I wouldn't want to reduce it's value by wearing it and risk scratching it. I can only have ONE! I really want a SD but out of respect for its collect-ability I don't want to just throw $ away. I fear I'm not making sense.

A Rolex watch is meant to be worn. Buy the one you like the most, wear it and enjoy it. Just for clarity which Submariner model are you considering?

I would take the new sub, SD is a little large for my taste.

I personally don't think the SD will be a collectible; there are too many that have been produced.

Definitely a classic SD. The lack of the magnification bubble is a bit stealth, but you still have the convenience of a date.
I love mine. It's a great daily wear watch and gets most of my wrist time.
It may command a bit of a premium for a new old stock one, but it's not a rare collectable.

That makes sense. I'm very new to the Rolex world. This will be my first other than the one I was just Will'ed but cannot wear because it is TOO much bling.

I love both but ultimately decided on the sub. No regrets and a great everyday watch. I wouldn't hesitate to wear an SD everyday either.

I've had my Sea Dweller for well over 10yrs and worn it everyday all day until I got a DeepSea about a month ago.

The Sea Dweller is a wonderful watch and like the Submariner is meant to be worn. Don't worry about the collect-ability unless you're a collector. It will still be very re-sellable if you ever decide to part with it and you will have gotten well more out of it by wearing it than what modest loss in value.

Both are winning choices. For me it was the Sea Dweller and I never regretted it.

16600 SD was my first, wear it 90% of the time.

I really want a DSSD, but I'm torn as whether to sell the SD or not.
