Safari on Black Hornback

Okay, here I am again.

First, let me address all the naysayers. I know that this is not everyone's cup of tea. The Safari belongs on the brown hornback. It is the pairing of the brown hornback with the cream dial that makes the Safari what it is.

I don't disagree. It was that combo that drew me to the Safari in the first place. However, owning a Panerai turns one into a strap whore and it is infectious. It creates a desire to tinker when different strap options are available.

So, I've done the Safari on black rubber and diver straps. I like how the black straps seem to increase the contrast between the black numbers and the cream dial. It feels like the numbers really pop off the dial. I love the hornback so I really wanted the black hornback.

Well, the AD called on Wednesday to say that my new deployment buckle had arrived from AP so I went downtown to pick it up. I had also picked up the black hornback when I ordered the DB so I had the new strap put on with the new buckle. Here it is.

All opinions are welcome. Say your piece. The important thing here is that I like it!

Love it, think it looks great, and the stitching gives a nice contrast to it. If I had a Safari, I would probably wear it more like this than on the brown!!

Works better than the blue strap we saw on another posting the black matches the dial colors much much better although brown would be the best for this piece

That works well. Having a neutral dial colour allows the option to apply many strap variants .

I prefer the brown because it pops the cream more to contrast it with the whiter subdials which is needed to not make the dial too monotone a white. That's why I think brown can work on the Panda but less so black on Safari.

I quite like your attitude here, not afraid of trying things and making sure that the most important thing is that you like what you do, yet you welcome people's comments. I find this pretty classy.

Regarding the band, I prefer the brown hornback but I think this combo looks great as well, surely this one will allow you to match this watch with many more outfits. Well done!

Think it looks great! Hopefully your wife didn't have a heart attack this time thinking you'd bought another new watch :).

LOL! Thanks Jason. When I put the black rubber strap on the Safari, Lisa actually did have a start thinking I had bought a new watch.

Of course, she hasn't asked how much the strap and the buckle cost.

The black hornblack with white stitch really contrast the white dial out, so I would this is a nice try of combination of colour
