Non gold or silver Rolex
Hello friends,
First off absolutely great website long timer lurker but first time poster. I am hoping to buy my first Rolex in the coming weeks but I'm trying to figure out if there is a Rolex model which has NO gold or silver in its band, dial, or anywhere else on the watch. Pretty much I'm looking for a pure stainless steel watch. Thanks a million in advance! |

Silver hasn't been used in Rolexs since before the war. The gold used in the stainless watches is in the dial markers and hands and the purpose is to prevent corrosion. Be it white or yellow gold.
Before they started using white gold in the mid 80s, they used steel. But, like anything else, that depends entirely on the model. So first off, decide on a model and then we can move forward. Welcome aboard!!! It's addictive!

Non gold or silver Rolex
Well, to start with, Rolex does not use silver. It's stainless steel, white gold, or platinum.
To answer the question, you have MANY options. Basically all models (except the Day-Date I & II and the PearlMaster) come in SS only versions. Gold or platinum may be used in minute quantities in the bezel/hands/numerals. Good luck. |

Hey guys thanks a bunch for the warm welcome!!!
The thread about the other gentleman interested in non gold watches was quite helpful. The watch I was very interested in was the day just 2 41mm but from that thread it seems like there is some gold in it. I will make a stop at the AD to see if they may have any options for me. Thanks and will keep you guys updated! |
