Impressive machine. Now I'd like to see it around a track, instead of just in straight line tests.

I've read 2 great reviews of the GT-R in the last week. It's seems to be an excellent car for the price when it arrives in the marketplace. I think the top speed is 189mph but it will be governed at 184mph when it hits the showroom (not that it matters... there's no way I'd ever want to drive that fast ).

and it has a similar price as the Mitsubishi EVO IX. The sad thing is that in Europe this car is going to be really expensive

Excuse my ignorance, but what was that banging sound in the cockpit during the two launch? I'm sure your neighborhood Nissan dealer can fix this car when it breaks.

I saw one at the DC auto show a few weeks back - there are two in the US doing the Auto show circuit. The one I saw was right-hand drive, apparently the left-hand drive was in Detroit.

The Nissan podium mannequin said that only 1500 would be made??? That kinda sours the build up IMO.

Also, I doubt the launch control will be available in the US. BMW has a similar system on the M cars equipped with SMG transmissions, and it's disabled in the computer code on US cars - it's too punishing on the transmission. The BMW transmissions can take maybe a dozen or so of those launches before really bad stuff starts happening, but maybe the Nissan unit is more durable.

Kind of sickens me.

All that technology and the price is right.

The Japanese have done it again. Wonder how the Germans will counter with their M cars and AMG's and P - turbos.

Well you have to pay some extra money for the brand recognition and that's why german cars are more expensive. At this price i do agree though that german cars can't compete but i am pretty sure that german cars hold better value and are more well built. Nissan's and japanese cars are great too they have great reliability but not my taste. Even if i had the money to buy a car like the GT-R i wouldn't. I would prefer a Porsche or an AMG

Yes, yes yes! The GT-R is a like a Casio G-Shock; it delivers the performance with none of the luxury and panache of a Rolex. The AMG has to be an IWC

That $70,000 price tag is well before the ADMs make their way into the equasion; I'm guessing $90k will be the starting point. Let's see what happens.

Japanese cars are great and they are really reliable but that's where they stop. They cannot be compared to the luxury and reputation of european cars
