Visiting Oregon this weekend; any AD recommendations?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post after lurking around for sometime. My wife and I are going to be in Oregon (around Portland and Eugene) over the President's day weekend, so I thought we might as well do some Rolex hunting. My wife just got a 179173 Datejust last year, and I've been given the green light to look for a 116710 GMT (or even a 116520 if I lucky enough to find one that's not marked-up). All the 116710 I've found locally so far have been going at MSRP, but I was hoping to at least get some discount. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested in knowing the general discount rate at an AD in Oregon. Since there is no sales tax, are dealers less inclined to give 15% + discounts?

I grew up in Eugene- the only AD is Skeies Jewelers in the Oakway Center off Coburg Road (easy access from I-5) Never dealt with them though.

As they say. "It's Skeie Season" They are an AD, but their website doesn't mention it.

Carl Greeve, Downtown Portland near the square, ask for Jim Jones. They have a full bar and can drink while handling Daytona's. Hands down the best AD. There is also a great vintage Rolex dealer on 10th street, Ales and Co. Jewelers/WAtchmakers. You can watch the two watchmakers work and they are very conversant in Rolex and willing to talk to watch geeks like myself.

Carl Greeve

Agreed w/ Sheldonsmith. I bought my Bluesy there last year with the help of another TRF member, Kansaivet. Got 10% off and no sales tax

Tom, where are you? Here's another member who might benefit from your good standing w/ your AD.

Welcome to TRF!

Best of luck finding an SS GMT IIc with a discount! It IS possible with a little legwork. And sometimes, cool cash makes the legs run faster!

SKeies offered me 5% on SS and 10% on TT. I was told by someone else they would adjust that upward to 10 and 15. Best bet is for you to hook up with the noble Kansaivet who loves to help his listmates.

Yes, KansaiVet is of great help. He called & set me up with his favorite AD, I called them, and because of his relationship, they were willing to give me a great deal with great service. In the end I was unable to get down to Oregon to buy the watch (I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada) due to work committments, etc. & they did not want to ship me one. But I would certainly go by whatever KansaiVet recommends, and next time I'm getting a new Rolex, I will take the time, and make the trek down to beautiful Oregon....
........Thank you again for the intro, KansaiVet.....gha
