Help, is this DayDate Rolex Real or Fake?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWN:IT&ih=006

Can anyone tell me if more about the watch>

Year of manufacture?
Would it have sapphire crystal or Acrylic?
What movement should this model have for the year of manufacture?
Where should the white gold parts be?
What letter on the serial number should it have?
any other info is appreciated.

Im a newbie as this is my first rolex and i don't want to get ripped off buying a fake... thanks

Hey Tam.

It would have been a better idea to have asked the question BEFORE you won the auction.

There is no way that watch is an 18ct WG Rolex.

If it was there would be a lot more than $900 AUD worth of scrap value in the watch.

Pics were tiny and the Buy-it-Now was only $900. Also "no pick up, I don't want you to know where I live." Final straw was the zero-feedback seller.

Hope it works out OK but I wouldn't be optimistic.

The bracelet doesn't look right, the day is crooked, the date looks small, the seller has no feedback and is new and won't allow local pick up. Someone bought the watch and another one bites the dust.

If it was real, it would not have "white gold parts."

The entire watch other than the workings and the dial would be white gold.

i haven't actually paid yet... so it's not too late. The worst thing that could happen is they leave a negative feedback for unpaid item. But i've got a valid reason for not paying if it's a fake.

On closer inspection, the clamp has a "rolex" logo but there is no other numbers stamped on it.

Also, a 6 oclock the index marker seems to be off placed.

Im still waiting on the seller to reply to my earlier message.

You'll be able to get any negative feedback easily removed since the seller is zero rated.

definuitly fake!!!!!!!!!!!do not pay.that is an aftermarket/copy of a rolex bracelet,th dial is all distorted-a daydate is like a work of art and will look as such-not a cheap-o crap-o watch like that one.

Report it as a fake and it will get pulled and you bid should go away. He's reporting the bracelet is white gold, if it is even real it is stainless and yellow gold. I would guess older daydates came with all yellow gold jubilee bracelets, president bracelets, and tridor bracelets. I don't think it ever came with a two-tone jubilee. Cheap fakes did.

I would report her as a fraud and thief. I would report her to Rolex, the local police and the equivalent of the FTC in OZ. I would ask eBay for contact information. A third party may ask for a payment of $200 not to do those things but you shouldn't as that would not be right and extortion. Don't reward her with fees.

FleeBay and crooks must be stopped.

update:

we have mutually agreed to end the transaction through ebay, so no i don't have to pay her anything. But i agreed to pay her the listing fee which is $6.94 i know i don't have to but it's just in good spirit on her part that she does understand my situation.

the end...

That is why everyone has a high positive feedback. There was a guy leaving negative feedback for people selling 10k gold as 18k. His feedback rating was 50%, negative for negative. Only one in a 1000 sellers will leave a feedback before the buyer does. Back in the dark ages I left a neutral feedback for an item I bought, I promptly got a negative from the hustler that is still on my record today.
It has been said many times and I will say it again buy the seller not the item. FleeBay and PayPan are the Wild West and you better be good with a gun and fast on the draw.

FleeBay is set up to look like a happy place where everyone gets a win/win situation.

I wouldn't pay squat. It's a fake and she can stick it.

Err buddy Tam...welcome to the forum...it's a good thing...you found this forum in time...to say the least 1st.

It won't surprise Orchi even a wee bit...if that watch is a FA-KE(pun intended)...completely.

A REAL deal...should at least look like this...err...where EACH of the screw bolts used anywhere in the clasp n links assembly alone...would be costlier than that entire watch being sold in there...

So do becareful NOT to burn your hard earned money...

Err buddy Tam...ONE more thing...since you could be from Australia...n the item is said to be available from there also...why don't you suggest to the seller...that you would pay him or her...DOUBLE the amount of what she/he is asking for that watch(which was A$900 right?)...should the watch be REAL n authenticated by an experienced watchsmith at a convenient location for the BOTH of you to check it out...

Then if n ONLY IF it is a REAL deal...Orchi shall not hesitate to make you an offer...for TRIPLE the amount of money(A$2700) that he/she was originally asking for that watch...

P/S: Always remember the age old Chinese saying..."Cheap things NO good...GOOD things...NO cheap."

But why worry about good spirit with someone who isnt worried about it from their end. the seller has tried a con so what do you owe them for not falling for it?
