Icon14 My new AP: Dual Time

Well, after having had a bad experience a few years ago with a Rubberclad, my faith in AP was restored earlier this year at a private dinner to show some grand complication watches. I did hit a bump in the road having a Rolex Submariner scammed off me (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...08#post4617808 ), but after selling my Daytona on a strap (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=191442 ) and selling the blue dialed Yacht Master, I found a bit of funds to get this watch.

I like the fact that it can be dressed up and down and that it flies under the radar. It may not be the latest limited edition offshore (kind of a put off for me...), but it suits me perfectly. Plan to enjoy it for quite some time.

Congrats. Great watch!

Did you had the chance to see it in blue or white? Whats your opinion on the different dial colors.

The joy has not lasted too long.... I'm sorry to report that last night I took the watch off (around 10pm) and placed it on my night stand. This morning, at 8:30 am, I put the watch on before heading off for work and noticed that the watch was indicating a time of 2:30 am! The power reserve indicator pointed to full, so no reason for the watch to have stopped. I put the correct time this morning and so far, it seems to work fine. Will leave it alone later today and re check to see if it stops. For the record, the watch was on its side, crown up, and no, I did not unscrew the crown to set anything on the watch.

Sure is pretty though!

Nice complication, sorry to hear about the scam, did you manage to catch the scammer who pulled this on you?

Nice choice. Tried that one on in Vegas this week, but I went with the 15400 instead.

Beautiful watch - congrats! Hope the overnight glitch is just that - an odd glitch. And also hope you get the Sub (or funds) back - just sucks!

I'm somewhat saddened to report that I just got a refund for the watch. Since my last post, it just kept stopping all the time. Sending it to Florida for repairs would have been a multiple month ordeal, so the dealer gave me my money back.

I promptly got another Rolex from him: classic 36mm two tone (rose gold) Datejust with white dial and Roman markers. I know it's no AP, but my brand experience has been one that will make me think hard twice about it again...

Sorry to hear of your experience - at least you dealt with an honest seller.

Good luck with your new workhorse :)

Sorry to hear about your experience with the AP Dual Time. I think yours is one of the rare occasions when the brand did not deliver and I hope you'll give it a second chance. I got my Dual Time last month and have been enjoying it tremendously since.

It's a brand you gotta love to put up with.

Most high end luxury cars need more attention than a Lexus or Benz as well.

Trust me, been having Porsche since 2006, and that is another "love to hate" brand based on price/performance/cost. Just posted on the review of the ROC RG Chrono (what I really want other than a Mille RM010, budget into consideration...) and makes me sick to my stomach that I had such a great chance to own the Dual Time and now back to a "plane jane" Datejust. Just gotta get my funds back from the theft/scam of my Submariner and make an extra few bucks on a new watch and something (my gut) tells me I will be back on an AP sooner than later (against my wife's advice...). Oh well, such is life in the tropics (literally in my case).
