Black Bay vs IWC Mark XVI

Got a decision to make. I've recently become very fond of the Black Bay, but would most likely sell my Mark XVI to fund it. Both are ETA movement watches with great style and finish. What does everyone think? I'm looking for a fun casual watch.

I tried on both and I liked the quality of the mark xvi better, especially on strap. I wouldn't trade it. I like the way the BB looks in photos but I wasn't too happy with the quality in the flesh. The IWC looks and feels more classy. But that's just me...

I also have the mark xvi and I love this watch. It's simple and very well designed watch. Personally, I won't trade....

Yeah I wouldn't trade...I'd just save up for a black bay...just set your goal and achieve it...or even better buy from here...DAVIDSW and others might be able to get you a good deal.
I personally can never think of trading a watch like most do.... I would miss the hell out of it.

I'd keep the IWC if possible and save for the BB.

I'd keep the IWC as well. And I love and have owned the BB. But I love the piece you already have more and wish I had one.

I'm mixed on the Mark XVI. It has a clean, classy design, IWC quality and a solid ETA movement. It is also 39mm. To me, it looks like a junior Big Pilot...almost. I like the watch. I really do. The problem with the Mark XVI is that it really doesn't excel at anything. It doesn't separate itself. It's a watch that can easily get lost on the wrist and that's OK if that's what you're looking for. The Black Bay on the other hand is unique. There really isn't anything else like it out there right now. It's not going to get lost on your wrist and you will find yourself staring it at constantly. The only negative to the Black Bay is that it might not be an all occasion watch. But who cares. You're looking for a fun casual watch. I say make the trade.

I'd keep your IWC if it is a mutually exclusive decision.

Photos would help me since I don't know what the IWC looks like.....but based on what I think of most IWCs, I would choose it over the BB.

I'd flip it for the BB. IWC is just a little plain for me.

The Mark XVI is THE Pilot's watch imo, I would not let it go!

You'll sooner or later regret it. I am keeping mine for sure!

When I had me IWC I loved it, I swapped it for a GMT and ended up trading the GMT for an Explorer 1 - 39mm. I personally would not exchange to a Blackbay, I don't get Tudor, they are awful looking in my opinion.

Probably keep the iwc if you like pilot watches, happens to be my favourite. I like the by a lot and have been watching the prices drop over the last year. The bb is more durable, more versatile and more original. If I could only own one, it'd be the bb. Mark xvi used should get you a new bb on strap and if you're patient, a bb on a band.

Yes, I agree. The BB is a standout watch.
