1603 Crown and Tube

Hoping someone here can help....

I have a 1973 Datejust 1603 (SS). I'm looking to swap out the crown to 18k YG. The tube and crown are original to the watch. Crown measures 6mm. What I'm needing to know is... which 6mm crown will fit?

I ordered one. Seller didn't realize it was a 5.3mm. He sent another. This one measured 6mm. However, it wouldn't screw down to the tube.

Will I have to replace the tube as well? If so, what all do I need to accomplish such a task?

Thanks,
DJ

not always but yes sometimes you can have this problem, are you sure the crown is original ? you need 6mm crown twin lock

Both the crown and tube are from 1973.

I believe the crown I need is the 24-600-8.

yes correct crown and the tube is 24-6000 , check the seal in the tube has not moved or is stuffed and the same with the seal inside the crown. Is it a new crown ? if used could have crap thread that is why they sell these often. How do you know the tube is original to the watch and original ? best to get a crown and tube either new or if used buy one with both parts together next time and replace the seals before installation if necessary
