Why, because it has day/date functions?

If the original poster thinks that Omega watches is anything like the Rolex President he must be living on fantasy Island,or wearing see every watch as a Rolex lookalike spectacle glasses.

To my untutored eye they are quite similar, so, which came first, the Rolex Cosmograph or the Omega Speedmaster? On a purely superficial basis, without going into the technical differences, of which I'm sure there are many, would one have been designed without the other. It's the overall design philosophy I'm thinking of.
Did Rolex pull a Speedmaster apart and then design the Cosmograph just like Toyota did with the Benz W124 and then designed the Lexus LS400.

You could say the same for most any product today take the car industry many cars share the same floor pan and many mechanics, only difference body shape and name on the boot or bonnet. And even Rolex take the Blancpain fifty fathom released a full 9 months before the first retail sub now they did look remarkably similar. And can assure they were far more similar than the original posters Omega which IMHO has no similarity to the President except they are made from gold.

They have the same "complication" but I wouldn't say that's a DD copy.

to be fair , theres only so much you can do with three hands and two windows,,,, so i can see the op point , however , i do like the date at 6 , very symmetrical , while not a direct copy , i think its all the nicer that it stands in its own right.

While there are similar features and complications, no more so than many other brands and models, certainly not a copycat. By the way, it is a beautiful watch, technically sound and very well made, a worthy piece.

Sorry but I don't see it, they look nothing alike and if all you've got is a day window it sure doesn't = a copycat!

I can see where you are coming from, but still find them quite different. The friendliness level on our forum, however, seems to be diminishing for some reason.

I think people, myself included, spend too much time here and thus get tired of reading the same threads over and over.

Solution: Rolex shall release new watches twice a year in order to keep us occupied and on topic.

I agree my friend, I agree, and I don't get it.
There are some quite agressive responses from the more senior members here.

I will rephrase my answer from the head bang to I personally don't see any resemblance whatsoever. To me they look like totally different watches without any similar traits although similar functions. I love the DD and own one and have owned many over the years and truly appreciate it's design. The Omega shown above does nothing for me. Sorry to the OP if the headbang or face palm worthy comment was not nice as I meant no harm by it.

Total copycat. How dare somebody copy Rolex. Rolex is the greatest company of all time and created everything in the watch world.
