Just Picked up GMTII BLNR

Hi All,

I made my final decision and went with the new GMTII BLNR. I picked it up yesterday afternoon. It was a pretty close race between this and the Hulk Sub, but since I already had the Deepsea, I decided to go with something different this time.

Ended up purchasing it from Royal De Versailles from whom I have made purchases before. I was originally quoted a 16% discount on the watch, but went in armed with cash and knowledge that I have given them prior referrals and so I worked myself an extra 2%. I also picked up the new Rolex Magazine everyone's been talking about here. It's hardly a magazine, more like a book. My AD said when future issues come in, they'd have no problem with me coming in and asking for it. Not sure how they're going to publish this magazine. Either quarterly or maybe semi-annually????

Anyways, I love the watch. Had one link removed for a better fit. I made sure I received all of the proper Rolex swag that comes with a new Rolex purchase. Interesting to note, I had to convince the AD into letting me keep the plastic bezel protector from the watch!!!! She said that they recycle the protector for new inventory. I was surprised. I mentioned to her that these come standard with every new Rolex as was the case on previous new watch purchases. Can anyone here confirm that Rolex no longer issues new watches with bezel protectors? Weird. Usually it's the green hangtag I have to argue with the AD about. RDV has no problems letting you take these.

I took a friend along with me for the purchase. He found it interesting and liked looking around their shop. The AD loaded him up with the Rolex Magazine, the Rolex catalog, as well as the red Omega book/catalog. The Omega catalog is a surprise to me. It's actually a professionally book-binded calalog. I picked up a copy for myself to. Looks like Swatch is trying to turn the corner on how their Omega image is perceived? In the past I'd asked for an Omega catalog and the AD told me they didn't have one except for the dealers calalog.

So without further ado, below is a quick picture of the new BLNR on my wrist.

Welcome and congrats on the beautiful watch! The bezel protector is provided with all new watches and they ship in the coffin. My AD gave me every last thing the watch came with, even the coffin.

Sometimes the stories I hear from AD's are a little strange. Glad I have I a good relationship with mine.

The "coffin"??

Is that the box which the green watchbox goes into, or is it the sleeve that the box holding the green watchbox slides into?

Congrats, and you got 18% off the list price - wow

In UK , trying to get a huge discount on a popular Rolex = laughed out shop!

Well done!

Congrats... I am surprised that you could get 18% off on the BLNR. None of the local AD's are willing to give any discount off at this time.

This is right. The coffin is a clear plastic box the watch ships in. At the AD it's joined with a box for sale. The coffin has a styrofoam insert the watch latches to.

It's no worries if you don't have it, won't impact resell IMO.

Amazing!! I was in there yesterday afternoon as well. I'm window shopping for my first Rolex. I asked the associate if they do discounts for cash and she basically said no but she would see what her manager would say. I went to another AD and was offered 20% off if I paid cash. I'm looking at the DJ2 SS Fluted Bezel w/ Arabic Numbers. I tried on numerous styles but at the end of the day my fiance agreed the DJ2 looked the best. I'm excited to get my first Rolex
