I am looking for a 1973 (born year) 1680 red sub. I foud this one on e-bay. I would appreciate your comments.

Lugs are thin and over polished. Price is high for that watch. I would definitely pass

Looks like a Mark IV dial with a 384XXXX serial number which is close to the end of the line for red Subs. Information available on red Sub dials indicates that the mark IV, V and VI are within the range for serial number 384XXXX.

The watch seems to be described fairly well by the seller. It looks like a typical 40-year-old watch. The lugs are not depicted well in the photos and appear uneven in width. The bracelet has been replaced along with the bezel insert - neither of which seem to be a stumbling block for red Subs. The end links were used on the 93150 bracelet and reference material lists the 593 end links for a GMT 16760.

The seller is reputable and the price is something that you and the seller have to be comfortable with in the end.

There are nicer ones out there. Dial has lots of chips in the hash marks, case is pretty soft with loss of chamfers on lugs, pitting between lugs, and a purist would prefer 580 endlinks on the bracelet. There are other issues as well. Price is pretty high for a loose watch.

Not a bad watch if it was at 10k for that price it would have to have a original insert, nicer bracelet and a much better case. keep looking my friend. Enjoy the hunt
