15xx Cal. Movement Parts Availability
My own local watchmaker is very concerned because he tells me that parts for 15xx movements are becoming exhausted from Rolex. My AD said that they had a 1665 returned from RSC Dallas with no service performed for this reason. If I'm wrong, I will GLADLY stand corrected. Anyone know anything about this?

I've heard this too but yet to hear and direct evidence. Let's hope it's not the case.

Parts are available. There may be (rare) instances where RUSA doesn't have stock on a particular component, but all parts for 15xx series movements may be obtained from Geneva. More likely the return of the 1665 unrepaired had something to do with USA's reluctance to work on "vintage" items.

Often wondered myself whether this would become a problem in time, as presumably some point will come when Rolex stop making such parts?

My watchmaker has said that his Rolex parts rep has told him "not to be surprised" if 15xx parts became unavailable. This was in November when I had my 16800 serviced. Hearsay, but I consider him a reliable source. I also heard that Rolex may take away servicing the 15xx from certified watchmakers to switch to Geneva based servicing only (higher prices I'm assuming).
