Driver loses hand in Jeep explosion

Well, it wasn't actually the Jeep that exploded. The individual had an M-1000 firecracker go off in his hand while driving a Jeep. Part of his hand was found a half block away.

There a lesson to be learned here.

The lesson is do not drive with your cracker in your hand.

I had no idea one could blow your hand off. I guess he was squeezing it hard?

Agreed with the sloppiest Yahoo headline.

Implication is that Jeep explodes, man lose hand.

Reality is that knuckedragger learns that M-1000 is more like a stick of TNT than a firecracker. Makes an unwise move in setting it off in his (former) hand.

I hope the Jeep recovers.

Driver loses hand in Jeep explosion

Takes me back to high school. Was in the backseat of my friend's jeep Cherokee on the way back from lunch. My idiot buddy sitting shotgun (front passenger) has a coffee can full of fireworks between his legs. Nothing too nasty--black cats, jumping jacks, those small rockets on a stick, etc.

He's lighting them one by one and throwing them out the window. He lights a jumping jack and throws it out the window. Wind pushes it right back in and directly into the coffee can. My buddy looks between his legs, grabs the can and throws it (but not out the window). He throws it into the back seat, where three of us immediately start to move. Can starts going off almost in midair.

Torched the inside of my buddy's car pretty good, we all went back to class reeking just like popped fireworks, complete with soot stains and all.

It was hilarious then, and even more so now. The eye witness accounts from our friends in cars behind us were icing on the cake.

Now that is an idiot, I wonder what other damage he did to himself like hopefully giving himself a frontal lobotomy.

Whatever he was planning; driving through a neighborhood at 1:00am with a lit firework, couldn't have been good.
Karma acted quickly.

I'm sure this will turn into a negligence lawsuit against jeep.

What kind of watch was he wearing?

Is it safe to drive a Jeep with a lit firework while wearing a Rolex?

Jeep should have warned against having explosives in the jeep. Jeep with its military birth should have a heightened duty.

I'm going to blame him for why my healthcare coverage went up 17% this year. It may not be him directly but heck, I'm blaming him anyway.

I think the lesson is to keep all windows closed so when the cracker goess off, your hand does not go flying out and remains in the car ... that way you can quickly pick it up and drive to the hospital..

Can you imagine the headlines if he happened to be driving a Tesla?

In any event, Darwin would be proud.
