Icon4 572 45mm 1940 & new p.4000

A 45mm 1940-case Radiomir and the ultimate 12-3-6-9 & sub-secs!!!
The only drawback, OP put "automatic" on the dial...

At fist glance, the P.4000 looks cool! Looking forward to hearing more about it

Nice! Thanks for the head's up.

Movement (micro-rotor) look good.

In contrast to my aversion to "8 DAYS", I have no issue with "automatic" on the dial (many fine watches have that on the dial).

For me, the big disappointment is the ecru lume (fake patina). Why does OP need to put it everywhere? Especially since this isn't a manual, so it's not even "historic". :-(

I really like it...I was going to get the 590 but I think I am going to get this instead. I am missing the 1940 case in my collection. Beautiful. Wish they didn't put automatic but still love it. The movement looks nice.

Probably the only one I like from 2014 SIHH. Hopefully won't impact the 190 at all.

Yeah, the patina-lume is getting old... pun intended

As for your argument of the extremely generic term "automatic" being ok and the rather unique "8 days" making you back into a corner, all the while hissing at it, confounds me.
Greatly.
It would be much easier to understand someone who'd prefer a sterile dial over any frivolous scribble (aka the DNA-die-hards )

I never said I make sense! Just my particular and odd opinions.

For me, the "automatic" gives balance to the dial and is inoffensive since it's so commonplace. Plus, it differentiates the model from the manuals, which I would have thought would make the DNA'ers happy.

Re: "8 DAYS" ....above the fang PR indicator it makes sense to me. I like it.

Have to agree here. I've heard plenty of PAM guys bitch about the 8 Days on the 190, too. We're all watch nuts and have our idiosyncrasies....just like the watches we buy.

a couple ideas.

ideally, i would have changed the ecru lume to white, but, i couldn't figure out a way to do that quickly and neatly....

vs. the actual watch:

Got to say out of all the new Pam's this one is worlds better, but that stupid stupid automatic really ruins it. The top one Cru made would make true Ristis salivate while the slack jaw public would never notice or care.

Would have been a winner without the "automatic"
Does anyone know if this has screw down lug bars or are they spring bars like the 514?

my favorite is the 2nd version (radiomir on top, panerai on bottom), but, either is better than "automatic". that all being said, i'm not too stressed by "automatic" since the ecru lume ruins the 572 for me.

You're right, Serge, that one is the best. I think I was just trying too hard to be different. It's definitely the classier option.

And you're also right that the 217 CrUsHeS the 572.

This article about the 572, P.4000 and brand history is worth a read: http://www.qpmagazine.com/issues/64/...radiomir-1940/

Don't really like the new 8 days movements taht came out recently, but this one is really nice with the micro rotor, really cool, nice watch even if for me pams have to be with the crownguard, that's what I love about them, well not only that but it's in it for a big part

They killed this beautiful watch with that silly (automatic) word on dial.

It would be perfectly fine without the 'Automatic' wording on the dial like many have mentioned.

The movement and the micro rotor looks great!

I like this one. A lot!
Funny how one word on the dial, out of a mere three of them, causes so much angst among those perfectly happy about having superlative chronometer officially certified on another makers kit!

let's also not forget "Oyster Perpetual Date".... i mean, when you think about it, isn't it obvious from the date window and cyclops that the model is a "date" model?
