Great experience with RSC

Like many TRFers have posted before me, I had a great experience with the Dallas RSC. I decided to take advantage of the free insurance appraisal since my DJII was still under warranty. I called up Dallas and a very friendly customer service rep emailed me the shipping instructions. Great communication from all the people I spoke with while the watch was away. Total time was 40 days, but 18 of those we're just shipping from Chicago to Dallas.

Here's the run down on time for those interested:

Dec 20: shipped from Chicago ($35)
Jan 06: arrived at RSC
Jan 10: contacted by RSC rep to confirm services (adjust bracelet, pressure test, appraisal)
Jan 24: contacted by RSC rep to say work completed and watch shipped from Dallas
Jan 28: back on my wrist

Nice to hear, but $35 isn't free though is it? I have a local who does it for $25 and it is back on my wrist in 1 minute.

Too much risk of damage shipping a watch just for an appraisal IMHO.

Cheapest I've ever had an appraisal around me is $75 so I saved $40. I also wanted to have the bracelet adjusted and have a pressure test since I bought the watch used. Plus it's nice to have my watch in the RSC system.

As far as I know, RSC doesn't do appraisals. For $175.00 they will certify the watch but not state a value. Has this changed? Anyone else have this experience?

The appraisal I received is solely for insurance purposes. Just a document with the model and watch description, serial number, MSRP, and my address.

I would confirm with your insurance provider - this may not suffice as an appraisal. MSRP is not replacement cost.

I've had two experiences with RSC Dallas and both were great. The only wild card is USPS registered mail. Sometimes I think they must walk the package to its destination.

True. Good idea in that situation.

Just checked and the actual wording on the document is "replacement cost" so I should be good to go.
